Red River (North) - Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Catfishing on the Red River is fair right now.  The river is nearing flood stage and the fish are spread out but are still biting.  The best spots to fish are snag piles that are shallow along the cut banks, drainage notches, or secondary currents near slack water.  Suckers are still working well but they are showing a liking for frogs. 

The river is high so only people who are very confident in their boating skills should be out right now.  Safety is the key here and we want everyone safe.  The river looks like it will be falling fast by the weekend and things will go right back to gang buster fishing after that.
