Red River (North) - Sunday, August 7, 2011

Report Details
Went out on Sunday night on a grassy lawn, I was about 100 feet from the bank of the river, fishing in about 18" of water with cut goldeye. Caught two cats between 12 and 15 pounds, missed three others. Pretty decent fishing from a lawn chair sitting in the grass.

True that. I've caught big cats in 1 ft of water in my grassy backyard during floods. I've seen them wallowing for nightcrawlers like carp, their gray tails waggling out of water.

My wife enjoyed not having the usual muddy feet, mosquito infested, trip in the dark woods to the car fishing trip. The catfish don't seem to mind swimming around on the lawn either.

I was fishing in Moorhead, Gooseberry park, behind the restrooms. The water has gone down now, but if it rains heavy and the river comes up again it could be a good place to try again.
