Listen to you guys. Uh, nothing over 18 today. My goodness guys I remember when you couldn't get the camera out fast enough for a 14 pounder. And to catch an 18 was a monumentous event. Now you complain when you can't get a 20 in the boat.
OK! OK! I'm just giving you crap because I am just as guilty. Isn't this great that we have become so jaded in the big catfish department. This river has become something special this year and we are all very lucky to enjoy it. Guys we are living "THE GOOD OLD DAYS" right now. |

Lucky,
That boat would probably be Josh, he has a way of just clapping when he pass's other boats, he's kinda retarded so if you clap back at him it makes him feel special. LOL |

Fished Wednesday evening north of the north forks landing. Caught 7 catfish including a 19lb, 17lb, and two 16lbs. Thanks for the applause from the person in the green boat passing me just after landing the 19 pound fish. I only tried cut sucker minnows last night.

nothing over 18 yesterday. no GOLDeye again, caught a couple drum, (sheephead to you minnesota boys) and a few between 13-18, bigger fish were caught from deeper holes 20-25 feet. Dont grab your line when there's an 18 pounder on, unless you want to cut your hand. We were using sucker minnows.

No problem, I've never been applauded for catching a fish before. Stop and say hello the next time you see the tub out. I'm sure I will be out quite a bit over the next couple weeks with a bite like this.

Josh,
Did you put the batteries in the rod to make it light up. Yeah, you got to pull the rod butt off to get to them. LOL |

darn tootin' the Red is hot! Fished saturday north of GF (my second home too) my buddy caught a 22 lber, my biggest of the day was 20 lbs, and eleventy-millionteen from 18-14lbs. We were cutting big sucker minnows in half, and fishing in 14 feet. Went out late sunday afternoon, with little success, only caught a couple around 10 lbs. Got to try out my new berkley glow rod. pretty cool, but the tip doesnt light up. Some guy helped me launch my boat which was cool because the ramp is so crappy that you need to have all 4 wheels in the water.

Catfishing is good all summer but seems to be the best Late April till early June then August until lake September. Unfortunatly I don't know the Fargo area so I'm no help there.
I would get below the dams or find a shoreline near a back eddie. I assume you are fishing from shore. If you are in a boat I like log jams, holes or current breaks. For easy fishing this year just find a straight run in the river and cast to the middle then let the bait be pushed to the break. This method works best at dusk or after dark. |

When is the most active time of the year for catfish? Any spots in Fargo you can point me to?
