Fished the Red this past weekend...My wife got her first Red River Cat, a 19.9#...She follwoed up with a 20#...My largest was 16. I lost 5-6 fish due to light gear...I have changed my tackle and will either go out with the right stuff or not at all...2 just snapped off, 2 got tangled cause I could get them close...1 was close to a wood pile, and was a mess...I learned my lesson very early on in my Red River Adventures...One thing I can say is it is nice having a big net...Looking forward to this weekend, I may get out numerous times...Maybe we'll see you out there...Till then, Rich T

And don't forget to wear a fox hat there! It should be good luck.
Fished near the fox farm in a boat and caught a few cats this past weekend. Largest was 18. Good luck! |

there's a place called the Fox Farm, its right off of Old mill road. Usually there are people there, its a pretty good spot, last night there were people set up with tents and had a fire going, so unless you are the first person there, I would sugguest going to the old boat ramp and just fish from shore. You can also drive along the gravel road that is right next to the interstate, (take Highway 81 north) and turn right at the first intersection, that will bring you to the river, and there are numerous spots that will produce.

The Red at Drayton is still out of the banks and with the rain we have had lately shore access would be terrible anyways. A few sauger starting to show up at the spillway north of the dam so it shouldn't be long.

me, esoxpirate, and richthorpe went out in the boat last night in search of....something, anything. We ended up with a 19 pound 10 oz , a 12 pound 8 oz, and a 6 pound 12 oz. It always rains when I fish with Esox, which is why I have decided not to fish with him anymore.
Oh yea, I ran into (literally) jplacquay, sorry about that buddy! It was dark, what can I say. guys, next time go easy on me alright. and rich, try not to cut your finger off. |

Fished off the shore all through Grand fork yesterday. Was a georgus day, cat a few fish, nothing to really brag about. fish seemed to be in the moving water on the outside of turns.
