Today's Bismarck Tribune listed weekly Whoppers and included a lot of big perch from Mud Lake...biggest one was 2-14...I don't know what the record was.

I suppose some idiot will post directions shortly... do everyone a favor and don't turn all nine of these lakes into small cities... it pays to try lakes where no one has tried.

I heard it was raised in a fish tank but they caught it in a legal way while testing new ice fishing jigs for a perchs response........heard it was Murdock who finally landed it after an extensive three and a half minute fight in it's 70 gallon home?

Did Murdock's truck get "wet"?

My brother’s neighbor’s sister’s ex-roommates boyfriend told her hair dresser’s second oldest son that the perch was 16 and half inches long 3.3 lbs caught out of Goose lake ND.

I say this because this is a local only fishing lake so I am not worried that non-locals would fish it.

SHOOT that would have been funnier!!!! Try this again....

It was Murdock that caught the whooper, a happy ending to a tragic day. Murdock was fishing the notorious Goose Lake behind his house when he heard the ice starting to crack. Not wanting to really move, he grab his most valued belongings, bush light, and clung to all 12 of them as he watched his truck break through the ice once again. Upon recovering the vehicle from the fridged waters, Murdock noticed a very large perch in the cab. Thinking quickly and knowing that it was probably the state record, he immediately halted recovery operations, so he would have wittness available to verify his next catch. Without missing a beat, he grabbed his "Green Hornet" and tossed it in the broken window and began twitching the rod vigoriously. Whamo, the beer flavored jig had done it's trick, "fish on", "get the net" exclaimed Murdock to recovery personell as they scrambled looking for any net like material. However, before they could find any, Murdock and his Master Fisherman training had already secured the fish that was caught, a beautiful 3.4lb perch. The feel good story would have landed him on the front page of any sportsman magazine but as a humble guy that he is, and after a very long day of fishing with little to show for it, he broke out the Shore-Lunch Cajun style and fried it up on the spot!!!

Nice catch Murdock!!!!

I watched Lake Loretta get completely hammed after Tony Dean did a show on perch fishing.  Withing a month of airing there were 500 units on a lake the size of a big slough.

Yeah thats a tough one. To me, getting out and finding your own area to catch fish, shoot birds, and get that great deer is what it is all about. So much more rewarding when you go out and find them on your own!! Not about chasing around other peoples "hot spots" or ghost stories. If I get an invite or something like that from a buddy I'll jump on it, but won't be parked out there the next weekend with 20 of my buddies. Have seen that happen more than a few times in the areas I hunt/fish. Kinda sad, but thats just the way she goes sometimes!
