previous spot on my previous post continues to be hot hot hot, every night it is insain action. tried a new spot yesterday as i hiked along shore and found gravel bed with deep water beside. location produced a walleye every 15 minutes or so, average size was 2.5  -  5.0  lbs. Alittle better size than my other spot but man  on man does this lake produce plentyfull walleye. tried pike fishing the day before during the day and all i could catch where small ones 2 - 3 lbs. caught a few walleye as well while targeting pike. There has to be a trophy walleye in
this lake somewhere in here to put up on the wall. will post more as summer comes along, I don't suspect this kind of action can hold at its current rate, but if it does it's going to be a great summer of fishing.

I must say fishing has never been as much fun as the start of this season. Fishing off shore I had found a gravel flat with some deep water beside, The Walleye are off the hook, I would estimate I toss in a rig with a frozen minnow and it takes about 30 seconds before I get a hit. This is all night long, fish after fish, avg. size is bout 1.5 lb, but I get a few 4 lb and up every time as well, 1 beried itself in the rocks by shore (dam weight got stuck in the rocks) just out of sight but i estimate it was over 5lb's the way it was pulling, guess i need to put small test on weight line so it will break off and not loose the fish. TOO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!! I need to start taking 2 or 3 containers of frozen minnows, ran out too early last few days, LOL You know catching 40-50 walleye in 2 hours is OK but with more bait my goal is to catch 100 a night, YEE-HAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fishing extreme south on the lake shore by upper return from power plant. Used reg Len Thompson. They where all over the lure like a wild bear on a camper pan frying lunch. Had about 20 on the line in 3 hours. Must have found a nice ridge under the water i assume along with a sudden hole 5 feet off shore because thats where they where biteing. 2-5 lbs. good times. Had an easy dozen in same spot a few days earlier, can't wait till the big ones moove in and see more weed cover!! Will go back May 5th and see whats there.

My good friend was up to Rafferty about a week ago and he said that the water was really stained. He said he has never seen it that dirty before in 10+ years of fishing Rafferty. They did catch some fish but he didn't say where or what they were using, sorry. I would stick with patterns that have worked in the past and then improvise from there. Good luck.

Has anyone had some luck up on raferty after the water went back down? I am hoping to bring my son up there and get into the walleyes or perch. Any info would about presentation, bait or maybe a location would be great.

How is rafferty and boundary this year for everyone? I have been up twice and the action hasn't been too incredibly hot, but we've managed to bring home a couple of eaters. Any advice on where and how to fish these two places would be great. Thanks.

Went to check the ice at rafferty today. checked estivan dock, McCoon road and hichkock road.  there was about 12 inches at all sites with good clear ice.  Pulled the hard house out and fished at McCoon and Hichkock but action was slow.  Started marking fish at 38 feet around 5 pm and got a couple walleye and a northern by 6 pm but is shut off after that.  only saw a few perminent houses out but would guess this weekend may change that.

Fished Rafferty Dam 2 1/2 days this week. Stayed at Harbour View B&B. Great accomadations and the best food you will find anywhere. Sunday 1/2 day fished near the marina jig fishing and netted six nice walleyes. Not big, but nice size for eating. Released all the fish. Next day, same area, same method, fish were much deeper 20' average. Four fishermen and netted 16 walleyes. water temp 60 degrees. Kept our limit of twelve fish and had Valerie at the B&B cook them up for us for dinner. You would not believe this meal.(all gone with the help of a couple of young golfers)
Last day, decided to check out mid lake (big mistake) headed out in wind 20 mph and temps dropped to 57.4 up the lake. marked fish, but not active. I am a jig fisherman and if they don't hit jigs, i move. Caught 17 walleyes, biggest 22" Kept our twelve fish enjoyed a ribeye with Meryl and Valerie at the B&B and headed back to Mt on Wednesday. All the fish caught were on jigs and crawlers. My buddies spent the same ammount of time at Sakakawea and brought home six fish. Still a bit chilly, still a bit early. Going back June 19 for more great fishing and good food.
