I also dont think people should shoot 2x2s. But like you have said before a mature doe will easily have more meat than a 2x2 yearling buck.

And that is why I think making a buck tag more would help grow more mature bucks. But i guess more posted land could do the same.

Okay I'll bite, I voted no!

Not because I can't afford it, not because I won't pay it, not because I shoot the first buck I see but because IMO, I don't beleive it will increase mine or anyone elses chances of drawing a buck tag.

With the number of doe tags currently being offered why submit for a doe as a first chance. I can submit $50.00 for a buck tag and if I don't get it - I get my money back and now apply for a cheap doe tag. If I draw a tag, no refund, but I get to hunt for "a" buck. I personally believe that most (not all) hunters do not spend enough time in the woods (or on the prairie, or at the range for that matter) to know a BIG buck from an average buck! On the hoof I would bet most hunters shoot large bucks that have tremendous ground shrinkage once they get the antlers in thier hands. I have done it, as I am sure every hunter has at some time? Spending hundreds of hours per year in a treestand bowhunting whitetails or in the badlands spot and stalking mulies have educated me to what a truely large deer is. Now I just need to figure out the formula to successfully harvest the darn things :)

I apply for Muley buck gun every year, because I enjoy hunting them and because I can. My last muley buck tag was 5 years ago. My 16 y.o. son (now 17) and my 11 y.o. daughter (now 12) harvested deer with there bows, both does! My daughter becaused it was Dec. 28 and it was to cold to keep holding out for a buck and my son because he is just plain picky on what he shoots, he likes the headgear!

I know I went off on a tangent there but I don't feel it would increase our chance at a buck tag, especially with the number of doe tags currently available.

By the way, I had 3 tags, my son 3 tags and my daughter 1 = $130.00 - deer harvested 5 - the enjoyment we had pursuing deer this year - priceless!

I put my top limit at $40 for a any deer tag,and drop antlerless to $10. at those prices any one who really wants a buck can still manage it .But if all you want is meat, you can get a pile of it for $40.

I think there could still be a lottery with a point system that everyone could participate in. the only difference is you can buy as many bonus points you want for say $50 - 100 a piece, but that money is non-refundable if you still do not draw. everyone can gauge there own risk to the gamble, yet everyone can still participate in the lottery with there 1 point. the most points do not always win, at least in my past experience with raffles. Yes, I would pay $200 for a tag. But, I am sure there are at least 1000 people in each unit that would pay much more for those tags and the GF will still give out only so many based on what the herd can handle, so how many times would you actually draw? It would be interesting, and risky, but if you want to hunt horns, pay up.

$200 a tag??? I'v seen a lot of stupid threads before but this has to be at the top. Glad the G&F has good people running the show and would never do something this stupid. Some poeple just don't know how good they got it I guess.

I would pay 200 a year to not have to be in the lottery for sure......and yes why not raise non-resident licenses and tags....sounds like a great idea to me

I'd pay extra if I could have a statewide whitetail buck tag and use a centerfire rifle to fill that tag. If not, $20ea tag buck or doe and the lottery system we have is just fine.
