Puerta Vallarta Fishing?

I have an acquantance checking on fishing in Puerta Vallarta, but have done some research as well.  This looks like the best so far.  Anybody ever charter with these folks?  Mexico can be a bit frightening when it comes to guides.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.  I will be heading in less than a month.

I was fishing there last week and we caught bonito and tuna about thirty miles out. We saw a roosterfish and a mahi mahi but couldnt get them hooked up. Unbelievable how the fish fought. Illget some pics posted tomorrow. Our boat was 950 dollars had eleven friends on it and two assistants plus the captain. We also caght one tigerfish and saw alot of whales dolphins and a sea lion

Whereever the birds were feeding the fish were biting

My guide out of Tampa recommends fishing for Jack Crevalle if you have the chance.   They are not good eating but they fight like hell and you can catch them left and right.  I will try for them next time.   See link below.   Pound for pound the hardest fighting fish.  Now you got me thinking since I may go down to FL in Mar. or April.

When I was there a few years ago, I went down to the marina and looked over a few of the charters and picked what looked best to me.  The guys that took me out didn't have a fish finder.  All they had was a compass.  I don't recall seeing a fish finder in any of the boats I looked over.  I was surprised.  We went out 15 or so miles and trolled around.  We went in March and caught a number of amber jack.
Good Luck!

Oh, and what was probably the coolest thing I saw while fishing was the blue whales.  There was pod of them nearby the area we fished.  They were splashing about and even had a calf with them.  The booze cruise I went on was a joke.  We ran them out of drinks well before we got back.  There also a bunch of people soliciting on the beaches and you can go out in a smaller boat for part of the day.  That wasn't too expensive, but I was spring breaking and didn't want to leave the party.

Got a couple pics posted now.  We had a couple whales about 20 foot off the boat.  Even the 37 footer we were on felt small.

I was down there last year. I went on a work trip. Our fishing was pretty slow...I wish I could remember the charter, but I didn't book it or pay for it so didn't really care. Here are a few pics.

The dolphins are pretty sweet. Just follow the boat.

We had whales real close to the boat all day long

1 of 2 fish we caught. Hopefully you have better luck than I did! It was fun regardless.

I like to goto trip advisor for reviews and information. Just type in Puerto Vallarta fishing. There are a few reviews on there for sportfishing. I'm going to be doing some fishing off the shores of Mazatlan in March, not to jack your thread, but if anyone has any preferences there, please let me know!
