That's ok. When I catch the new MN record on Saturday I'll make sure to put it on the digital scale and throw it in the livewell...............

I agree though, in the picture it looks maybe 7 or 7.5 lbs but it's a nice fish either way.

Looks like she could take some eating lessons from that bass.  Also, why would you not keep a record bass and put it on the wall?  It probably died from being on the stringer anyhow.

yeah I use to fish Maple as a kid, we would go to the lilly bed with a 10ft flat bottom and a trolling motor with frogs, worked well for us

well when I was like 10, we always watched bass fishing and related it to lilly pads and such so that is where we always went.  It was fun anyways, got onto a mess of bass last weekend on Lake Sally, nothing huge but a pile of 2.5 lbers

Those are pretty fish. Every notice how a Yankee LM has a more squat appearance and severe gill angle up to the bottom lip?  You could damn dear put your head in the mouth of a Ga. bass of this size.  I prefer the coloration and bulk of the Northern strain.  They're prettier fish IMHO.

Also, this C&R deal has become like "Global Warming".

What do you mean by that? I hope it wasn't in reference to me?

That can be true of walleyes as well depending on the lake.  Swaney why don't you try eating a buffalo fish.  I heard they are really good in the spring.

That's an interesting question. Seeing as how we're less restrictive than MN fishing-wise and we have the law that a fish must be harvested once placed on a stringer or in a livewell, I would think that Minnesota would have this rule established as well. Assuming of course that the fish that are harvested are legal (correct size within a slot limit, right species at right season, etc.). If someone throws a 23 inch walleye in a livewell on a lake and then realizes that on that lake there's a slot that requires that fish be released between 22-28 inches, that's an exception (and only by COMPLETE accident where the angler wasn't informed enough and the fish was still very healthy) where I could see one going back.

I believe it is legal to cull in MN.

didnt know about the trib article. i work for flyway construction and she sent me a pic right away. i believe it would of been a new state record just on dementions of the fish. no one will ever know. a replica is being made. she also has a replica of a 48in pike caught in quetico. shes a true sportswoman and her husband chris(my boss) is a die hard ice fisherman and a duck hunter. i deer hunt with him also. combined they have 32 ducks on the wall and hence flyway construction.

If everyone focused on the important things in life the world would have a shortage of fishing poles.
