Polaris Ranger Governor?

Hey does anyone know how to remove or bypass the governor on a polaris ranger.  I have a 2012 800XP.  I just want to be able to drive it without being against the governor all the time.  Mine cuts out at about47mph.

Ziptie around the spring. But use caution, the governor keeps it from over reving.

I think there's a modification you have to do to the clutch in order to allow it to go faster. Also, if you make the change then you also have to switch to a different sized belt.

I haven't done it, just been told.

IMO 47 is fast enough but it's a free country so go nuts.

If you want to go faster, you need to modify your clutch.  The "Governer" you speak of is an electronic rev limiter that prevents you from ruining your engine.  There are chips out there the bump up the rev limiter a bit to give a guy more rev, but I would stick to modifying the clutch if I wanted more speed.  I have a Polaris RZR and looked at those options, but decided 60mph is fast enough for me.

I agree with Captain on this one.  Granted, you can buy Juice Boxes or other programers, but where you will gain the most is by reclutching it.  We have both Rangers and Rhino's around the farm, and I can tell you around 45-50mphs is plenty fast for these units.  We do have a Razor with some work done to it and a Juice Box into and it will go roughly 65-70mph...  The long and the short of it is how often do you want to go that damn fast???  We hardly ever drive it that fast.  The amount of money you will spend on programmers isn't worth the return you get from it, unless you spend a bunch more money on piston and cam kits and exaust, and there again you have the margins of diminishing returns regarding what you pay and the return you get from it.  My best advise is reclutch it and I think you will be happy with it...
