Places to stay at Devils Lake

Sorry, posted same a few weeks ago but only got 1 response. Looking for tent camping up there on the weekend of the 15th for 3 dads and our kids. We know the north end of the lake very well but would stay just about anywhere. If it comes to it, would stay in a cabin/hotel, but would prefer to camp. Woodland is booked, and I know that Grahams would probably have space but can't reserve and they're supposed to start working on the road soon or could be stranded by wind.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Six Mile Bay campground generally has some spots available.  There are always some tenters who set up every weekend.  I don't know if Rick takes reservations but you could check.

West Bay if you want a cabin is a great place, unfortuanitly for reasons I wont get into, Westbay along with many others do not allow tent camping. I will leave it at a few can ruin it for all since someone will ask me to elaborate.

i12fish:  If you don't find a place, please let me know.  I hate to see a fishing trip ruined especially when kids are involved.  Heck, worst case scenerio I will let you use my backyard.  Plenty of firewood and we are a stone's throw away from the lake.

Take a kid hunting instead of hunting for your kid.

First I am a Dad, then a husband, then a hunter.  Sometimes I get the husband and hunter mixed up, but luckily my wife remembers what order they should be in. :-)

Wow, thanks a bunch Dan. I'm certain it won't come to that but nice to know there are fellow fisherman who care!

One of my best friends, AKA TritonMan, had a cabin by Lakeview lodge for years so this has never been an issue before, but it was sold this Spring so we're re-learning things we never considered before. Couple that with the rise in water and accessability issues with Grahams and there you have it..

A cabin or hotel would certainly not be the end of the world, just something about the kids sleeping in a tent, roasting marshmallows and meat over the fire, and sitting telling lies. Those are memories kids will keep forever.
