Pipestem Lake - Sunday, March 11, 2012
Today was the last weekend of driving on for the year, ice was 20 inches in places and open in small patches. About 2 foot thick mud to drive onto the lake. Shanty town is gone but around 4 (used to be 3) the crappie came in like clockwork suspended 3-5 feet off the bottom. Light color glow spoons + waxies

Pipestem Lake - Saturday, June 13, 2009
Fished the Pipestem from shore at the boating ramp by parkhurst recreation area, limited out with 3-4 pound walleyes in about an hour and a half. Beautiful fish. I had also recently been down to the buchanan bridge and caught nothing but trash fish.

Fished off the bridge on the north side. Caught 3 eyes and 3 crappie. One of the eyes were 4lbs and another was 2lbs. The crappie were pretty small. All on jigs with minnows or leeches.

Has anyone been up north on the pipestem river? There's a bridge up north that was an awesome spot years ago during high water times. this year kind of seems like it will be very high water as well. just wondering if all the ice is off the river up there and how's the snow look?

Only 3 access points for a vehicle on the Pipe. Parkhurst which I'm sure you saw, is terrible. There were a couple houses straight out from the boat ramp but that was it. Other 2 are South side. 1 past rifle range and that one gets bad in a light winter, no way you'd get on there. The other on the far west end, minimum maint. road. Last I was down there it was completely blown in. Only if someone plowed it since would it be usable and it's a long way from the main road to water, well over a mile. Even before the last couple storms, from Parkhurst west was a ghost-town. Huge drifts and nobody down that way.
The Pipe is hibernating for the winter:) |

Pipestem Lake - Monday, January 5, 2009
A friend and myself fished Pipestem all day (11am-6pm) on Friday the 2nd in 14FOW. We caught one walleye and one crappie but saw quite a few perch on the camera that had no interest in anything we presented. The fish we caught were both too small to keep. We went back out on Saturday morning and fished for two hours (730-930)in 18 fow with a couple of crappies on the camera but no takers. The access is terrible. The only reason we were able to get on the lake was someone with a blade had just plowed out to pull their permanent off.
