Photo Description:

She shot this deer on 9-3-10. We could not find it after many hours of looking so we gave up. Some hunters from Indiana found the deer during pheasant season and gave it back to us. After having 4 people score this deer we were all with in an inch of each other. Just wondering what you guys think it scores.

I guessed it at 145 the night she shot it. People might not believe me but it actually gross scored 171 3/8 with the 7 inches of stickers. Does not look it tho.

Dang!...theres a lot of times pics don't do racks justice.  What were his beams and mass?  tough to judge off these pics.

156 would be my guess. Gross score. One of those "Have to see it to believe it" kind of things.

It is very hard to tell with out ears and everything, if it scores that high I would say the picture doesnt do any thing good for the deer.  I was going to guess around 135 and I feel I normally do a pretty good job at field judging deer.

At least 170, I'd say more.  Closer to 180....

Real nice deer I would have guesed 160 or so.  Does your wife have a sister?

he had 23 inch main beams and the mass was 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 all the way with 11 inch G2's. When I scored it I had to do it twice because I thought there was no way. Two of the other guys that scored how scored a lot more deer then I have so I didn't feel so bad after they came with in an inch of what I had. Thanks for the comments.

 even with 7 inches of stickers it would tough for that to make 170..... great buck..... but not at the 170 level.... the deer i shot this year is very similar and goes in the 150's

Doesn't look 170, but might be! Best to have it scored by official measurer, although I doubt if it can be entered in Pope and Young, as it wasn't found until long after the supposed  kill.

Great deer, if it scored 170, than thats what it scored, not 150, bet she was pretty happy

She was pretty down after we couldn't find it ,but I told that stuff happens. It ended up all good in the end so thats what counts. Does any body know where I can get it offiicialy scored?

170...tough to believe. look at my profile pic. that deer only scored 160 1/8. no way this one goes more....great deer though!

if his beams are 23 and he has 19 inches of mass and 11 inch G2s than he would score that. It doesn't really look like it but that is a terrible angle to judge score.

that equals 74 per side. which is 148 with out spread. add a 16 inch spread and he is at 164 main frame.
add on 7 inches of trash and you get 171.

I don't know if I believe it or not. Post another picture while holding the head up off the ground and holding the camera level with the head.

what really helps the score on this rack is above average brows and  g4s

I'd say about the same, add on the trash and it's around a 170" gross scoring deer.  Either way nice buck!! Glad you guys got the antlers recovered anyway. I'm sure you had one happy lady when you got it back!

this is to the kiddercounty person, that is exactly right what you said!! my cousin this last rifle season shot a really nice 5 by 5..23 inches wide..it grossed 158 i believe, and his rack puts this one to shame..no way this one scored in the 170's!! very very hard to believe..it is a great buck tho

That's a beautiful buck and congrats to your wife on killing that slob.  Archery to boot!Makes him  a little more special in my opinion.  Beat she had some jelly legs going and heart in the throat.  I added him up in my head like bowhunter_24 and came to just above 170 inches too.  Just love that big fish hook kicker.
