Still in pursuit....

I may have seen him sky-lined on a ridge last night, but again too dark and too far.I have been consumed by this buck and its been frustrating. Maybe next week when the rut picks up....

Re:Wayne,
After hunting a dandy last year through muzzeloader and late bow season I can say there is nothing more fun than hunting one buck and one buck only. It teaches a guy a lot and is fun because your season gets automatically extended because you don't take another deer along the way. Even if you don't get him you will remember this hunt forever. Of course, you probably already know that. Good luck!

Re:Thanks guys,
Most guys would hope to have a 130-140 class deer walk down the trail within bow range. I'm hoping that doesn't happen, I want this big one to be to first one I see so I don't have to make a choice to shoot or not. Wayne

Re:That is a dandy! I used to think bucks went nocturnal as well until I did a little self research and realized that going to the stand at about 11 A.M. and sitting until about 2 P.M. sounds wierd but yields great results. Whitetails need to seek a source of water and stretch at least once throughout the day and learn quickly (from hunting pressure) that they're safe to roam about in the afternoon...just a thought for you based on my experiences. And like you said, as rut gets closer, you'll definately have better chances of seeing him. |

Re:Wayne,
If you do get him, just send this photo to Miller or whoever you take your taxidermy work to. He already has the pose, wrinkles, nose tilt, head turn, etc. Perfect mount pose.

Re:Tim,
I have already given Nevada this photo for a reference picture. The wrinkle lines, ears etc, are perfect. With my luck I'll see him, get buck fever and miss. I'll keep you guys informed. Wayne
