Photo Description:
My son has been interested in taxidermy for quite awhile now so we dicided to mount his first mule deer that he shot a couple years back.  For a first attempt, there are a few flaws but overall it looks great.  Probably shouldn't have attempted using bondo for the ears the first time, but why start the easy way using ear liners?

that's an excellent mount, great job. tough to get them to look natural, and i think you did a pretty good job of getting the natural look.

Awesome Job!

Question, was this an early season buck?

No, this was a November shot deer, so far this is his only mule deer buck tag that he has drawn.  We are proud of it and he has always had an interest in Taxidermy,  who knows maybe someday it could be providing income!

He has quite a few specimens in the freezer waiting to be mounted.  I think there is a coyote, pair of mallards, partridge, another deer, pheasant and who knows what else?

Thanks for the encouragement!

I have seen long time taxidermist work that doesn't look as good.  You did a fine job for the first time and should be proud.

This does look excellent. He did a sensational job. Looks like he has some great potential to be a very very very good taxidermist as this mount is already great! Thanks for sharing Trapper, very well done!

Looks good.....Keep up the nice work and it will pay off in the long run!!

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

looks good, if your interested in learning some really good pointers come to the North Dakota Taxidermy Association Competition and bring your mount to enter. The judges that comes are world known and give lots of good information on how to make your mounts better and there are also lots of good seminars to watch. You can get more information at the NDTA website. I would be very beneficial to you if your interested in continuing taxidermy.

NDTaxi,  Maybe we will come down for the event and look at some of the work, but I think we will pass on entering.  I looked at your website and there are some darn nice mounts there.  If a person goes can we bring a camera with and take pictures?  Also was is the admint. fee to come in?

This is March 10-12 correct, if you could only attend one day which day would you attend?
