Photo Description:
Well my tags are punched.  What an elk season.  Just 2 hour into my elk season I found myself sitting on a herd bull for 2 hours.  Finally he chased a cow in close and gave me a shot.  I missed.  I would spend 10 more days until I could get on another good bull.  With my deer tag gone I had nothing else to do but hunt elk.  I heard this guy bugling and put a chase on him.  H was moving his cows up the mountain.  I stayed close under 100 yards at time.  Finally he ran into another bull and they fought for about 20 sec.  Just enough time for me to run up to 40 yards.  They split and the big bull walked right over me.  12 yard shot. I grunted to stop him and he bugled and I smoked him. My best bull so far.  Spent the last 2 days packing him out.  Got some help from bucksnightmare who just happen to be over bear hunting.  He has great main beams and is 40 wide.  Scores right at 315!

Nice elk man!!  You put together a damn good season!!  Congrats!!  Is this now the biggest elk in the house because I know you were behind!!

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Nice work fella! You are a killing machine again this year!
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter.- Finn Aagard

Thanks guys.  Solocam  I was behind 2 years ago but set the bar for biggest elk in the house last year.  Now it's even higher.

I to was really surprised at the score.  I guessed him at 306 LOL  Bucksnightmare guessed him at 318.

It's just a perfect picture.  I've had a bunch of people tell me there is no way it scores just 315.  Hell 315 is plenty big for this guy.

way to go!  still got the elk B available.. so you don't have to quit just yet.  I filled one last week, and I'm telling you an anterless elk is way harder to get a shot at with a recurve than a big old lovesick bull.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

poor choice of words...simply stating that an antlerless elk is a very challenging quarry, at least it was for me this year.
