How do the birds look around the state. Seem like the south east part of the state is not to bad but it will be tough going. Definatly not as good as last year.

I am seeing alot of young birds, abd the numbers of them are down.  The snow did do some damage on the numbers, but not as bad as one would think.

Here in Jamestown they are few. I was hoping to get out but I better go buy and raise some chicks first so we have some for next year.

boy is this thread turning out to be a waste of my time.  although, given the numbers i wouldn't expect many folks to give out an honest report anyway.  either way, good luck this weekend, be safe and have fun.

to keep with the theme... i also heard the greater grand forks area is holding a lot of birds this year, too.

i live in the SE part of the state. the guys aren't kidding. numbers are way down. i used to have to dodge them on the way to and from work all the time. now, i am lucky if i see one. driving around blasting potholes last weekend, i think i counted 12 birds in 2 days. pretty sad.
Hold my beer while i land this walleye!!

I haven't been seeing any NW of Jamestown.  I might just continue duck hunting this weekend instead of chasing pheasants.

Nw area is down about 40% 200-250 miles a week and mostly gravel not near as many as the last few years. See very few road kill birds.  See alot more skunks and fox in the NW part of the state, also seeing more road killed racoons. With last years winter and the coons and skunks maybe that is why. Seen more huns than the last 10yrs.
See very few road kill deer.  I haven't seen a speed goat since last year. I have only seen 2 bucks that would cause a person to wet themselves both where in the low 160's a lot of tine length and  about ear width.

Lot of CRP broke up and with no food or housing should be easy pickin for song dogs or fox. everyone just has to hunt longer and harder no more limit in a couple hours.

There are some deep sloughs that have water but the normal cattail sloughs are dried up so not many ducks either

We have been out duck hunting five times in the Steele area and haven't seen one yet or heard any crowing in the morning.

good numbers still in the counties in SE along the SD border.  Problem is the corn fields are full, but until the corn comes off it will be tough hunting. With all the rain we are having it will delay harvest we are just getting started on beans.  Come mid november hunting should be good.
