I remember a few years back there were a few people building their own, I think they even posted some pictures.  I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to share their plans or any ideas they have?  Thanks for any help.

What style and size of house did you have in mine?  I have some plans for a 6.5 x 12 Vfront. Only thing is you will have to come up with your own wheel/axle system.

Right now we have a portable ice house that is about 6x8, it gets pretty tight in there if you use anything other then buckets. So I'd like to atleast have 6.5X12 if not slightly bigger. Do you have an axel system on yours and if you don't how do you get yours to and from the lake every year?

Fixed our up last year 7x 14. Its an older house that we re did the walls that were rotted out and had it insulated with spray foam.  Did the underside, walls and ceiling. best thing we could have done. Added alot of strength to it and can heat with a candle:)

When in doubt spray foam is the way to go.  No more water logged walls!!!!!   Insulating the flood is a MUST if not a standard.  Dont skimp on the windows either. Thermopane are great, no fog!!!!!
Fishhouse supply is a great site. They have basicly everything you can want or need to build a house.
there are lots of different ways to have drop axles. mine are the independant wheel. each has a whinch on the side.  I'm sure you can make thm yourself just by looking at some other houses.

How thick did you guys go with the spray foam?  Were the walls a different thickness than the floors and ceilings or were they all the same?  Also, did you use 2X4's, 2X3s, or steel studs for the walls and ceilings?

I finally dug out my plans.   The frame is 2x3 tube steel.  the walls they have 2x2,(2x3 wouldnt hurt) with 2x4 corners.   The ceiling is 2x6 rafter cut to pitch. They also mention WOOD SCREWS quit often in the directions.   I would say your wall and ceiling thickness is which ever you feel comfortable with.   I will have to agree with thompson78. After running a price list on everything that I wanted in my house and compared it to a ice castle of the design the Ice Castle was 1200 more than my list.  I didn't figure my time into the cost of construction yet either.  Granted, you can find cheap cabnets if you take the time and look.  I priced everything out of menards and other hardware stores.

That's where I found mine last year. It had just about everything I wanted in it. I just added another bunk. Way cheaper than I could have built it for.

I built a 12 foot v front last year, bought the frame from a guy who builds em by alexandria. I didnt run any electrical in it except the taillights, just use generator and run a wall propane heater in it. Bought my supplies at Lowe's and with the frame and materials, spent about 3,200 bucks to make it. It will be at ashtabula or jamestown if you ever wanted to see it.

I found this forum the other day, the guys does a pretty good job of explaining different options and such.  There are also many other topics about building them on this site.
