Heading out this weekend. Can anyone tell me what the water levels are like right now. Going to go and try to get me one this year. I got skunked for the first time last time I went out.

I talked with one of the guys from the paddlefish tagging crew and the numbers being caught are very good. They have been out a couple days and have tagged about two hundred and seventy with one more day today. Last year I believe they caught a total of twelve before giving up in the extreme high water and current. A great sign for this years early paddlefishermen and a warning for the guys at the cleaning station that they could be very busy the first week. With early season like this the number of males will be way up and as a result the numbers of big females will be much lower bringing the average size down.

Well... one week to go.  Any word on if there's still fish in the river?  I guess we're going anyway, but it would be nice to know what we can expect.

Well, the reports on the Scenic Sports and North Star Caviar appear to be good fishing this season, with 480 caught as of the end of the day yesterday.

Here we are 11 days from the opener for this season.  Just a reminder for everyone to post their reports here and not on the forum page.

Good luck to everyone this 2011 Paddlefish snagging season.

The paddlefishing continues and it is amazing that we have not seen a rise in the river yet! Between the Yellowstone and Missouri we are about six thousand cubic feet per second below average with the water levels very comparable to two weeks ago. There has been sixty three paddlefish turned in at Intake MT so far this season so there are not any big numbers up there yet so that means they are still in our area. The largest so far at Intake is one hundred and nine pounds.

Walleye fishing has been good and this is the first year in a long time that there are so many bank and boat fishermen excited about fishing. The new area south of the 1804 bridge has been a big hit with the local bank fishing connoisseurs. Mostly pike being caught off the shore along the Muddy but you just never know what you are going to catch. I heard a rumor that the crappies have also started biting at Trenton but lets keep it under our hat for a while.
