For my spinning reels I use HT blue lube.  It greatly increases viscousity in very cold weather. It is the same lube the use in the cylinders of their tipups.  It's great stuff.

I use the oil that comes with my calcutta's to oil them, and I use the HT blue lube on my daiwa linecounters....

I dunk mine in clean fresh water, hang them to dry and give a few judicious squirts of Rem-Oil.  Will clean a baitcaster feed pawl with a Q-tip and Rem-Oil then finger smear a film of Hoppes grease.  I haven't disassembled a reel since high school and find things work better that way--except for this rat-bastard Shimano Curado which winds all the line on the right side of the spool!!  I loved that reel and maybe used it twenty times.  In fact, I'm glaring at it now perched atop a lovely Lew's Speed Stick.  Damn it! --all it had to do was pitch jerkbaits.

Should work fine for a spinner IMHO.  Go light of course.

Lucas Gun Oil for bearings on my spinning reels, and the Abu Garcia reel grease on the gears. But the HT lube or Frabill tip up lube works good too

I no longer oil my reels and I think they last longer than when I did. Sometimes I think oil can do a reel more harm than good causing oil dirt and grime to build up. I keep them wrapped in the garage all winter but have drove down many a gravel road in the summer covering them in dust and it hasn't made a bit of difference that I havn't oiled them. If they would have oil and grease on them going down a gravel road I believe you would be worse off.
