This is very scary, knowing the care and concern the oil companys have for the environment. and the past track record . I got it lets mess up the state of ND as much as possible and then leave. YEA THATS IT.

I believe the feds have the call when it crosses under rivers/streams.  Atleast that is what was said when the natural gas line they wanted to construct was denied.

Yup, a few oil pipelines, a few gas pipelines and DGC's CO2 line going to Canada all currently run across Sakakawea.

This is the part I like about pipelines: "The Enbridge line ... will remove some 50,000 truck miles from highways 22 and 85 every day"said Justin Kringstad, director of ND Pipeline Authority

Yeah, really not that scary.  I can't find anything about there ever being a leak on the lines that exist there now.  Some have been there since at least the early 80's.  Any lines that go under the lake require smart pigging more often which detects leaks.  Also, with the help of chemical treating internally, and cathodic protection, the risk for leaks is very minimal.

A person can either go under or over the Missouri River.  Not really much of an option to go around.

Wonder how expensive an overhead pipeline would be, and what it would look like?  I am thinking very and very ugly.

There are 2 and I don't think either of them haul even remotely close to what this one will.

There's already lots of them under water.  Just remember, the more pipes, the better the chances of leaks.  By the way, what's the rush to drain all of this oil today?  Does the crap rot if left in the ground too long?  Put that in your pipes, and transport it!!!

I'm not so sure there is such a rush to "drain" it as you say, but more of a rush to hold leases.  Also, with all the uninformed people that put their own spin on a EPA report from WY, it's a rush to beat the regulations that may be coming.  If that worry went away, things would slow down a bit.  Believe me, the workforce is showing fatigue and voicing that.  Even more so, the infrastructure is showing fatigue in the forms of roads, housing etc.  The pipelines will help ease the road burden some.

Hurry to beat regulations, now THAT makes me feel much more comfortable.  I thought that maybe it was just greed and money.

this administration and the epa put the fear of over regulation in all business owners.  those types of people don't employ additional people when under those types of uncertainties.

Because it is not your oil or my oil, the oil belongs to the mineral right holders and like a bushel of wheat or a steer. You have the right to sell your product. Simple as it gets!
In my lifetime I have seen fence row to fence row farming and the return of CRP and game to the landscape. Now we face again the prosepect of fence row to fence row again! Sportsman are our own worst enemy in that we fail to look forward and focus to much on the now!
