I am looking to go northern fishing tomorrow with my buddy.  Are there any good spots around 30 miles outside Bismarck.  Also what kind of bait other than cranks and spoons are good for northern fishing.

I have good luck with Mepps Giant Killer spinner things. Pike are aggressive, they will strike just about anything. I have caught pike with a large dead sucker hooked through the head, casting and retrieving, working it like a stick bait.
