Went out on Sunday in the pouring rain to give it a shot. Dock is not in yet so launcing the boat in the wind and loading the boat was pretty interesting. Trolled spinners with a little luck. Landed a handful of pike with a couple nice ones, a few perch and 1 13.5 inch walleye that went back into the lake. Lost a few BIG fish that we never got a chance to see. Tried fishing shallow and deep, but never really got a pattern down. Best fishing was in the 9.5 FOW range. Lake is completely filled with cormorants. Fished for 4 hours.

You can't drive on.. But can get to landing.. We walked out only about 100 yds. To 8 ft of water. Fished from 3 to 6 and kept my son constantly busy with the small perch. Fun for the kid....... And me.

Went out about two weeks ago had drove north off the main boat ramp and followed the shore popped a couple holes and fished out the door for about an half hour caught two small perch and decided to set up the house instantly started catching small perch about 10 small ones for every keeper. ended the day with 28 perch and one northern. caught overall probably 150 fish. in 10 to 15 ft of water.

Fished from 7am to 12. Caught perch on any combination. Wax worms, minnow heads, whole minnows, minnow bodies. Caught about 75 perch. All but 5 were too small to keep. Let my 11yr old son out of school to come with me for the day. He caught a 36" northern. No eyes but a very good place to take a kid for lots of action. Drove the truck almost everywhere in 2x4.

Was out on the central portion of the lake fished in 10 feet of water with a buddy and his kid. Perch were pretty consistent on a genz worm either white with green eyes or a green with white eyes both glow in the dark with crappie minnows or wax worm. When the bite stopped caught a northern and perch bite was back on, perch varied in size from 6 to 10 inches made for a nice 7 hrs on the lake. We kept a few northern and released a few as did the same with the bigger perch. Driving was fairly easy with a 4x4. Hope this helps

Wondering what the access on Golden Lake is like this winter? Snow depth? Guessing there is plenty ice to drive a truck on, but wondering if there is too much snow to drive on the lake? I am come up once every winter from South Dakota and fish Golden with my Grandma. I called the guy who use to sell bait near the launch, but sounds like he is in AZ for the winter.... Any reports of conidtions would be apprecaited. Thanks. |

Fished out here on south west end on Wed. Fished in about 9 FOW without much luck. With as good as fishing was last year was pretty suprised with how bad of luck we had. Heard a few people were having better luck on north end but was still lots of open water in between north and south side where it gets skinny. Ice was inbetween 4 and 6 inches with most of it being a even 6. Water was clear. Ended the day only catching a handful of small perch that went back in the hole.
