North American Hunting Club

The North American Hunting Club.  "http://www.huntingclub.com/" has been sending me a packet every year for several years.  I usually rip it up and throw it in the trash.  But, as of late, I have been sitting down, reading and researching my mail.  It's probably just a phase, who knows.

In this packet, I am told that, "I have been chosen" to recieve free products to field, because it is important for outdoorsman like me to give feedback about outdoor products.  I may also win guns and trips.  BUT, I have to repond in 10 days or I will not longer be able eligible.  (They say) I have nothing to lose.

I logged onto their website, searched other talk forums and it seems like a scam.  People don't get free stuff, if they do, its cheap.  They get an Ok magazine for a $1 month.

I don't plan to join.

I guess I am curious if anyone else is sent this packet or has signed up.  Thoughts?

Yeah . Kind of neat at 1st . They send you a hard coverbook about hunting or game cookbooks or a video about every month . Bought quite a few and sent a bunch back . Had to finally call them and ask them to quit sending them as they were a little different but alot of the same content too . Recieved sun screen , bug repellent , a cough muffler , and a scope to test and keep over a 5 year period . And you get a free magazine monthly when subscribe. Neat stuff but gets expensivive if you keep buying .

From what I understood  $1 a month.

I just don't want to deal with a company if they are not reputable.

I don't need someone sending me cheap "of poor quality" stuff that is going to end up in a landfill.

Yeah none of it is really "free".  Some of the first gifts are but you pay it in membership.  I've pretty much cut them off from sending me stuff.  Ten dollars here and twenty there just gets old.  Especially since i hardly ever read the books.  Not really worth it.  Just my two cents.

I'm a member of North American Fishing Club basically just tried it out and it's not a bad deal really. Big this really make sure you are able to send stuff back you dont want  so you dont need to pay for it. Plus you are basically put on a mailer that I assune they charge other companies to advertise witht hen expext a little junk mail from time to time, not a lot by any means. And yes they do send you stuff, I have gotten twister tails, powerbait, many spools of line, two cranks, assorted hooks a couple times, small tackle bags, a shimano reel and I'm sure I'm missing something it says you shouls write reviews on products but I have never found a place to do itbut the still send loot. I have kept some books, they have good info but as Zman said some info is repetitive, send those back. Basically my thought process was that I like looking at those kind of books when I was a kid so maybe when my buy gets a few years older he might like to page through them also. Acually once they accidently send me a hunting club book on whitetails and after looking through it I even kept that one.Overall I like the info and am happy with being a member but if you are the sort that is really bad at sending things back or you really really despise a little junk mail maybe not the place for you.  Oh also they have sent me a full program book from the mlb all star game, recipe cards, and Nat Geo animals cards for kids, not sure why but it was free.

I dont go around guessing cup sizes either I just know a nice rack when I see one.

Magazine is pretty good actually, but all the stuff I got was pure junk.

Also they do try and sell you a lot of stuff.

Only hunting gear I got to test out was a crappy pocket knife worth about 5 bucks......other then that I was a member for 3 years and nothing else was sent to me for free.

I am no longer a member.

I am a little jelous, I was a member for about 5 years, and never once recieved free stuff.  All they ever did was aask for more money.  The magazine was so/so, and repeated itself.  Just remember nothing is ever really free.

About 20 years ago I signed up as a life member, Same promises of "free" stuff and "hunts". Got a nice leather coat, (first wife got that so hardly free)  And got the same tapes, books ect...you had to pay for sent until after about 15 times telling them to quit sending them, they quit sending them. And have yet to see a "free" item to use and report on or "hunts of a lifetime" to experience. Other than that its been great!!!!!!

You do get a magazine showing all the "hunts of a life time" their editors, publishers, president, vice president, treasurer, secrataries, ect... get to go on though!

Come to think of it I haven't even seen one of those magazines for awhile, maybe the first wife wrote and told them I died and so endth my life membership!

Life Member of NAFC for about ten years. Rewarded with a "Diawa" rod and reel set for travel.  57 piece rod.  Handsome travel case.    Called them long ago and told them to stop sending me tapes, books, and 100yd spools of Trilene.  I signed up to be a Field Tester and dicked up two Rhino spincast reels with "Reel and Line Magic".  DO NOT use "Reel and Line Magic" on spincast reels.  It locks up the drag like a locked up whore. This product is good for other fishing applications(casting).  "They" did not like my report.  I received no more "Reel and Line Magic" but still receive the magazine then times a year, Dr Schramm makes me feel like I'm not getting ass-raped.
