I heard a rumor the other day that Nikon may be going out of business.  It came from a source that deals with their products.  Is this true?  Or are they being purchased by another company??

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Nikon is in a takeover with Metris, a belguim company that makes 3D software. When it is over, Nikon will own them not the other way around.

I found it hard to believe they would be going out of business.  They seem to have a huge market in optics up here.

Just a guess, but I'd think that sport optics is a reletively small portion of Nikon's overall focus.  Commercial imaging/video/survey optical equipment seem to be the cash cows for large optics companies.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

This is correct.  One other big line of glass Horsager inadvertently left out is lab equipment.  Analytical grade glass makes the quality and price of the best Nikon scope appear trivial.

Was doing some reading and Nikon recieved some good grades on their EDG higher grade binos.  A few of the companies were surprised by them.

I know what I just said was off topic but the topic reminded me of the reviews I was reading.
