Gets a little maddening with our state being torn to shreds because of the oil boom. This may not have been rif-raf related....hopefully not.....but I'm guessing it was.

For crying out loud WellArmed, you don't suppose the two poor guys had a terrible accident instead of something violent/ill intended? All the OP said was that two guys were dead and you immediately jumped to a violent scenario. Roughnecking isnt the safest occupation!

I for one am tired of the constant bashing of folks who are working in the Oil Fields. We are all Americans, and as a military member I fight for you all to voice your opinions and you are all allowed your 2 cents. But really? What makes you better than anyone else? I loved ND when I moved here 8 years ago but all ive heard lately is a bunch of self righteous whiners complaing about something they have no control over. And to top this off someone died. Brother, a husband, a father, a mentor is no longer alive. My blood is boiling. As a christian all i can do is pray for there families first and foremost and second that you who HATE other Americans rethink your comments and somehow grow up.

An oilfield accident near new town claimed the life of a Texas man on January 31st. 28 year old Charles Ross Petty of Trans Power Electric was the spotter for a trenching machine when the machine rolled backwards and pinned petty to the ground. Emergency responders tried to resuscitate Petty, but he died on route to Mountrail County Medical Center. OSHA officials are inspecting the worksite this week.

i'm not sure if this is the story that marksman was referring to or not? didn't see anything on kx about oilfield deaths but i missed the first 7 minutes or so.

I hope it is the only one. I have had to delivery a death message to three families in my life time and there are know words to describe that feeling.

I heard there were 2 deaths near Arnegard today.......getting tired of all these people dying. All you guys working out in the patch be careful.

One man was killed and another severally injured in an oil field accident McKenzie County near Keene, located between Watford City and New Town.
The Occupation Safety and Health Administration confirmed the accident happened January 28th at a drilling site in Western North Dakota.
According to OSHA, a boiler exploded and 38-year-old Richard Ries of Salem, South Dakota was killed after being blown quite a distance from the boiler.
Another worker was severely burned and taken to a hospital for treatment.

More recently, another man was killed in an oil field related accident near New Town.
Authorities say 28-year-old Charles Ross Petty of Hurst, Texas was killed by a backhoe bucket on a drilling site.
Officials say OSHA inspected the site this week as part of its investigation.

The accident happened on patterson 491. Vey sad deal. Boilers can be very dangerous and require alot of maintenance.

Is Patterson considered a safe outfit? I've heard people talk about a dangerous place before, think it was cyclone.

Patterson is a good company in my eyes. Obviously people are going to have there own opinions if they have had a bad experience but id put them up there with the top personally. Cyclone on the other hand, well let's not go there lol
