Hey I know I posted a thread on here earlier, but I moved to moorhead from Grand rapids. I live in North Moorhead off of hwy 75 on wall street. I heard there are places on the red river where you can ice fish is this true? I am going through withdrawals without ice fishing!!! Also my landlord said there are some areas near by in MN and ND where you can pheasant hunt? Is this true and is there a lot of coyote hunting in this area I can assume yes, but I am not totally sure. I have a 6 year old GSP and I want to get her on some birds before the season closes. I'm not looking for anyone to give up their honey holes but just some help to a new guy and a fellow outdoorsman would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys

As far as I know drinking and shopping are the only things to do in Fargo/Moorhead.  LOL

So you are occupying Wall Street?

Plenty of coyotes around. You will need a NonResident license to hunt in ND but should be able to find a few pheasants or grouse for your dog SW of Fargo. Keep heading West until you find decent numbers. The quicker way would be to meet some FBO'ers from the area and buy them a couple rounds until they get to know you. If you are a decent guy, they will probably give you a few tips or offer to take you out.

You can't aim a duck to death.

please, do not go on to river ice, river ice is far to unpredictable, I once fell through river ice around here and do not wish to repeat it, or see it happen to any one else.

There is plenty to do but you might have to travel a little farther to do so. I can't say anything about MN but I cover a lot of North Dakota. I do everything from bow to rifle and muzzleloader for deer, kill as many coyotes as possible and try to get my dog on pheasants too and now started ice fishing two years ago. My schedule between work and play is full so I'm sure I could send you in a few directions. Send me a PM.

I will agree the area sucks but to have fun you first have to make a living. I just put on a few more miles is all. Anyone who knows me knows my walls are full of good deer and I manage to shoot lots of birds catch a bunch of fish and usually take a spot in alot of the coyote hunts I participate in. I don't wanna blow my horn but it is what you make about it. You can either sit around and complain about the area or get out and go after em!
