Fished from about 3 o'clock til about 6 p.m. with only one 12 inch eye. Marked plenty on the vexilar. Twenty two feet of water. Couple other fishermen out but have no idea how their luck was. The pattern from this dead sea continues.

havent fished hard for bass in awhile but they used to just love anything to do with frogs. caught a lot on topwater just outside of the cattails and over the weed beds. Also had really good luck with the small grasshopper crank, mainly smaller bass but everyonce and awhile a decent one. Been seeing a few good smallmouths and everyonce in awhile a largemouth in the weed flats while bowfishing.

hey guys im might be fishing in the bass bandits tourny on new johns and i just moved here so i have know idea what the lake even looks like so i need to know where 2 start and and anybody else who is in bass bandits please tell me what has worked in the past thanks for ur help

Went up to New Johns sat 6/25 caught fish but they were all 12-13.5 inchers was kinda hoping to get into some keepers, but hopefully it is a good sign for the next few years. Tried almost every depth, leeches and crawlers fish came out of 10-13 ft.

so northern arn't good? like it said in north dakota outdoors, anything not named walleye is overlooked.

The Lake is pretty well flooded!!! The Opportunities for bowfishermen and women, are endless!!! for those fishing with rod and reel on the otherhand, a beautiful day on the water can be had, but don't worry about buying bait it wont be needed, the fish simply are not biting! |

I've called this lake the dead sea for 3 years now and it don't look like that will change this year. Went up to New Johns at 7 am. with both minnows and leaches. Yes leaches are in now. I spent the entire day till about 7:30 going around the entire lake tried about 12 diff. spots from east new johns, to heckers, east park lake. From the lake that used to be known as charlies lake a little area before the cannel that leads to heckers, I caught about 10 small northerns. besides that not a single bite on this beautiful day today. Talked to many people not a bit for no one really. Its a beautiful place if u want to camp and look at a pretty lake but if u want fish don't waste ur time here. I don't think I've heard of anyone catching anything good here for the last 3 years now. Maybe someone will have a good day but I think this lake is so over run by northern and carp that the walleyes are pushed out.

yep the ice is all gone on new johns. there is a little bit of crushed up ice at the far east side of the lake but thats it.

Anyone been out to New Johns lately. How's the access to the lake? Truck access? Don't have 4 wheeler or snowmobile. Any advice on where to fish? Plan on heading up there this weekend. Thanks.
