New G3 boats???

Anyone got feedback on the 09' or 10' G3 V175 or V185 boats?  I am considering a trade in on one.  I have a single console boat right now and want an affordable, but quality boat with a full windshield for the family.  Would rather go with a 150hp motor and 18' boat, but have a budget.  Any info you have would be appreciated...I know there were transom issues on earlier models, but I am hoping that has been resolved by now.

Rides like a Lund?  Maybe a Lund made 20-30 years ago.  All the G3's I've seen on the water when it's rough out looked like the super wet rough riding Lunds of the 80's.  The boat industry is super competitive.  You get what you pay for.  If it costs less there's a reason it's less.

You can't go wrong for the money with a 185.  They are a really nice boat and keep getting made better.  For sure it will be my next walleye boat (hopefully next year.)  A company owned by Yamaha is a good company that make a quality product.

I have been to the G3 factory in Missouri and seen them be built.  A great boat that will last on a budget for sure.

Kurt, you're the first person I've heard that from.  I fish quite a few tourneys each year and don't believe I've ever heard anyone say they have a good ride.  Actually quite the opposite.  Models change and improve each year though, I hope that goes for them as well.

If your looking for a family boat that you use for multiple purpose, you dont take the family out to fish in 35mph winds, you are in no hurry to get from point A to B. Buy what you feel is best for you. There is obvoiouly going to be a differece in ride and quality between a $50K Ranger glass boat and a $25K G3. Be proud of whatever you buy, your kids will be!!!

Own the boat dont let the boat own you , but if it is to get your family out more , make sure and do it , my wife and I talk every summer about how purchasing our first boat was the smartest recreational thing we ever did. Our kids loved .  Now our kids and grandkids love boating

Is G3 the most reasonably priced new aluminum boat out there?

that was while i was out helping prefish for the flw the last 2 years it was in port clinton.  i really like the room and just the feel, either way you cant go wrong i think for the average person the price of boats is crazy that is another reason i like the g3

Well built seacows.  Yamaha is the parent company, so you know they will be a quality product, but Id have a good set of glasses and a chiropractor from what Ive seen.  For the size and motor size allowed they are DOGS, hard riding, and wet.

YES, I am that foolish!

I have a V185 G3 and it rides just fine. Of course at these Lund lovers are going to talk sh!t. I have rode in many boats and you will get wet in most of them as well.

Luv,

OK, heres the deal. Alot of us have probably owned quite a few different boats in our days ,for me it has been in order, lund, hewscraft, sylvan, stratos and most recently ranger but my future boat is a tuffy. All the boats have likes and dislikes. Glass provides a nicer ride than ANY metal boat, period the end. All boats are WET, for god sakes they are in the water more so it depends on how the boat is driven and the experience of the driver of how wet you get. Yes the style of boat will also dictate some water issues but I put it more on the driver than anything.

Bottom line advice; Get what you can afford but MAKE DAMN SURE it's what you want for a while; you are going to take a severe depresiation (sp) hit on the boat buying new and will be stuck with it for a while.

Last and MOST IMPORTANT advice; MAX OUT THE HORESPOWER!!!! Do NOT buy a boat that is rated for a 150 and it has a 115 on the back!!!! This WILL be your greatest dissapointment while you own it and you WILL get killed if you ever go to sell it!!!!

Wingmaster;
FYI I cant stand Lunds!!! LOL

Just curious, if you were going to spend $35k+ or more on a walleye rig, why would you even consider aluminum over glass? Is there even one benefit over glass?  I would love to own either but I know what I would buy if I was planning to spend that much money.

Glass looks cleaner, rides smoother, rides higher in the water, trolls lower in the water, no problem with screws and rivets, hold their value, no leaks. If the current trends continue, Lund wont be very popular on the walleye waters come tourney time. The only glass boats they offer are made by their competitor from what I gather.

Seems like Lund is kind of caught in a marketing nightmare. They push Aluminum all these years yet they know glass is the way of the future.
