I just ordered one of these .50 cal out of Cabelas. Anyone own one? Comments? I'll let you know in a couple weeks if it has enough knockdown power to take a whitetail fawn.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

I ordered an in-line CVA from Cabelas 2 years ago. Needless to say the thing shoots 4-6 inch groups at 100 yards with open sights. Haven't had a chance to bag a deer with it, but know it'll explode a gallon jug to pieces! Wouldn't hesitate hunting with it at all!!!

A friend has one. We all razz him about it being a real "primitive" firearm, especially with an aimpoint sight on it. It shoots OK,is inexpensive and reliable. Good value for an out of the box shooter. Uses 209 primers and pellets with Sabots. Too modern for me, though. If I ever win one in a raffle I'd use it for a fence post. Heh!

I wonder how it would work on those carp up at Sakakawea?

I bet a light load, like 20 grains, and a bowfishing arrow might be a good carp load.

Well, it definately has enough uuummmph to take down a small whitetail doe. 40 yards facing me with her head down. Hit her in the back of the neck, and the plains bullet apparently went into the chest. she barely wiggled.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.
