That's a basement dug, formed and poured PLUS a nice big three stall garage with a deep third!

The price is staggering.  who in their right mind could justify a boat like that unless you are just insanely wealthy.

Why would anyone buy from Blakes? He never has a problem stealing your money. Tim made a good point, Thats exactly how much my basement is costing me and at least it should last more than 20 years.

C'mon guys thats only $3333.33 per foot of boat.  Go to the bank and get it all for 180 eeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyy payments.  Talk about financial suicide unless your looking for ways to get rid of a small fortune.  You can go look around and buy an 08 or 09 for 40-45k.  A 30k hit in a year or two.........ouch.

Yeah I honestly don't know how Ranger keeps going.  It is amazing how many are up on the market every year used.  That means SOMEONE must be buying them new.  Must be mostly pro boats on Walleye Central or something that are listed one or two years old.  Only way it makes sense.

I think you should seriously get a mental eval if you plan on dropping 70k+ on a boat. Totally ridiculous.

My buddy has a 617, (2001?) with a 150 hp, and a 9.9 kicker.   I goes 55 mph loaded down.   Why on earth would anyone but a Pro need anything more?   Why did they discontinue making the more affordable 617 model?   And they wonder why they in trouble and as a Company?

Rowdie,
I think I can answer your question.  The reason I have a 621 is because I live on Sakakawea and don't get as many days off as I would like.  After a week of waking up every morning looking out at the lake and wishing,  I go the second I can.  Now if you are like me and not very lucky that pretty much means the windy days.  I know the boats are over priced BUT,  I have had most brands and this is by far the best rough water boat I have ever been in.

That may be true, but why discontinue the lower end models??!!    There are guys like me, who have summers off.   How can a teacher afford a $70K boat?     I live on OAHE.  There are days when its wincy, I won't go, especially in the summer, I just wait.   They can still make the bigger boats, but why price a lot of people out of the market?

I really don't know why they would not continue making the 617 they seemed quite popular in Minnesota when I fished over there.

That's way too much for a boat I think, but some serious fishermen have them, must make the fillets taste better.

What's the problem, you guys don't want to spend $125,000 on a new 621 and the diesel truck to pull it!  What a bunch of wusses LOL!  Joking aside, it blows me away how expensive they are.  Saw a Triton 215X last year, completely decked out, for $80,000!  Unreal!

I don't agree that Ranger discontinued the lower end models.  Yes, the 617 is gone.  But, you have both the 1760/1860 Anglers and th 1750/1850 Reata and RS.  All are completely capable boats with a much lower price tag.  99% of people would be completely satisifed with and 1860 and it's price tag versus a big 620/621.

Bottom line is I think we sometimes forget how much $$$ is out there.  Looking at the WC classifieds, all those 1-3 year old Rangers, Lunds, etc. aren't all coming from pros.  Some folks (most outside, but some in the Dakotas) make some big $$$ and spend it.  Whatever, more power to the guy who gets the two year old rig for $20,000 less than the first owner paid.  Doesn't make sense to buy a new boat and take that hit, but guys do it all the time.  Just gotta be the one to take advantage of it.

All BS aside, the boats are impressive.  I've spent a chunk of time in a new 620 and gotta say it makes my old tin can look like a leaky row boat.  Great boats, but the "new" price is just not justifiable for most folks!  The resale value is there though, I know guys who have sold even 8-10 year old Rangers and get really good money for them.  Quality brings good resale I guess.  And, while the Ranger prices are pretty wild, most ofther brands with similarly outfitted rigs aren't going to be to reasonable either!

Trax,

Yeah it isn't just the Rangers, it is everyone...even aluminums that get spendy.

Just wish someone would make a nice 18 ft tiller fiberglass.  About only option is Skeeter.  Problem is there they are (tillers in a whole) more expensive than a dang big boat with monster motor (all things considered).  That's what I hate, the whole issue with tiller prices.  How in the world can they be MORE than a counsel boat with more horsepower?  Supply and demand or what?  Grrr....

Anyway, a lot of the new boats that are "affordable" to us "normal" folks is the fish & ski type boats.  That's what a lot are going to and I guess there must be a market for it.  Don't know, never will own one.  Me?  I screwed up not long ago not biting on a 2002 Warrior with 115 for around 15,000.  Dumb move on my part.  Just have to sit and wait...a long time...since trying to get a house lined up!  My dream house escaped me as I got out bid.  Next in line?  Well, honestly, it makes sense to build with what they are getting for used homes up here.  Argh....

Absolutely positively stupid price imho.    That being said if you can afford it go ahead and buy it before the regime puts a big ole tax on it.

I dont think that boat is still at blakes. I saw it last weekend or a boat just like it. what i noticed was the 300 hp outboard. First i saw it at the 19 bridge. It sounded sweet when he opened it up.

Situation is with the Rangers is they have kind of a cumbersome floor.  Sure, lots of storage but I don't know what it is with me about floor space.  I just like having it to walk around in the boat and move easily.  Plus room for an extra food cooler and stuff that Dani likes to bring in the boat.  With the sides jutting out of the boat into the floor you have a very little floor.  Plus the poke out off of the front deck.

But yeah, overall nice boat.  If I can't get a nice used Warrior in a few years I'll probably be looking fairly hard at a 20 foot Yar-Craft.  They have the floor design where it juts out into the floor too but with a 20 footer you get enough floor space.  Another boat that will be intriguing is the Skeeter.  They apparently are going to come out with an 18 foot tiller sometime in the future.  Will be looking for that.

Of course, the issue with all of them is underpowerment (I invented that word).  Warrior only boat you can hang a decent motor on.  I hope they fire back up but man, this length of no public statement or something can't be good.
