NEW ND Big Game Record Book

The upcoming seventh edition of the North Dakota Big Game Records Book will be

published in the spring of 2017 but there is still time for hunters to submit qualifying entries.

Jamestown’s Lyle Hanson, creator and publisher of the first six editions, turned the reins

over to Garrison, N.D.-based outdoor writer Patricia Stockdill, who is compiling the upcoming

edition.

Entries will be accepted for big game species legally taken in North Dakota meeting

minimum qualifying scores based on Boone and Crockett Club scoring methods: White-tailed

deer typical (150), white-tailed deer non-typical (170) , mule deer typical (155), mule deer non-

typical (175), elk typical (275), elk non-typical (325), moose (150), pronghorn (70), and bighorn

sheep (160).

All animals must have been taken following the standards of Boone and Crockett’s “Fair

Chase”. Score sheets must be signed by the scorer and hunter to validate the entry.

New qualifying entries, as well as animals taken in past years that were not been entered

in previous editions, can be submitted.

Submission deadline is Feb. 27.

Contact Stockdill via email, stockdill.patricia@gmail.com for more information about

submitting entries and book availability when it is published.

I hope the editor's browse the current records in Pope & Young, and Boone & Crockett and include those already verified and entered. Or is this book something that entrants have to submit an entry for? I reviewed an older edition once that did not include some official P&Y and B&C North Dakota  entries that I was aware of...resulting in me not being interested in the book if it had so many ommissions.

This will be an updated version of the older books.  Color cover, more photos and stories about the trophies.  I'm pretty pumped to see how Pat's changes will make the book more modern.

I'm not sure, but I will ask Pat.  I believe those are all copyrighted by the respective clubs, and may have to be purchased for use in something like this, but I'm not 100% sure.

I believe you have to submit the info after it is verified and scored by the Boone & Crocket or Pope & Young scorers.

Hats off to Lyle Hanson for the years of work, putting the 6 editions together.  I feel  Pat Stockdill will do a great job, as she loves the outdoors, and writes many articles published by various venues.  I have worked with Pat in the past, and she puts together good stuff.  I'm looking forward to the NEW look and content of this publication.
