Nelson Lake - Monday, April 20, 2009

went out today dang i hate trying to fish in a NW wind out there! fishing was poor my hotspot produced nothing but little 1 pound males. everywhere else i tried same thing nothing but the little fellas didnt catch a fish over 2 pounds all day. i guess the big berthas are laid up peparing to spawn. water temp was 45 in the creek and 65 out from the discharge and 54 down by the plant, water clarity is getting better but still stained lots of debris floating around too lots of reeds and tree parts to be caught by my crankbait. crankbaits didnt catch anything today, spinners nothing, topwater nothing, rattle traps produced the only fish hmmmmmmmmmmm. fishing will be good in a few weeks when everything warms up but it is not so good now. crappies were hard to find too. all the fish i caught were right against the bank shallow shallow no bites in anything deeper than 3 feet of water all day. one of the worst days i have ever had out there in the boat.
