HI,  Im from Michigan, and im headed to devils lake in early march, im gonna spend a week ice fishing for perch, ive ice fished here most of my life for perch on lake st. clair,
and we mostly use a single hook w/splitshot and a big fat shiner, or a small ice jig with wax worms, any help i could get from the DL regulars, on what to bring or purchase, as far as lures, or any tips or tricks anyone would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.  thank you,   jim

I only fish for walleye, but you might want to bring your boat if coming in March the way this extended fall is going.

Did you know when you are coming from Michigan and if you travel US Hwy 2 will be passing through Michigan again? Good photo op to bring back to your buddys. Check with Woodland at Devils Lake when you get there. Either way ice on or off they will fill you in on what's happening. Where are you staying? Most of them will point you in the right direction also. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

I am from WI, so probably not the best source of information, but I do make it to Devils at least once a year for the past 15 years. As far as ice, I think you will be ok. Our trip is planned for the first week in April, we might need our summer rods!
For perch we have always done best on tip downs. We make our own homeade tip downs with actual spinning reels so you can reel up 50ft of line easily. We set out our 3 lines and then jig one other with either a Halis and a waxie or the smallest size jigging rap and a waxie. Seems to work fairly well.
Also for walleyes my favorite lure is a chart. and white jigging rap, along with the other baits mentioned on here work good.
If you want anymore of my suggestions PM me (however that works, I just signed up on this site and trying to figure it out)
