need advice

I am looking for advice --- plan on putting some flush mount rod holders in - two by the drivers seat, two by the passengers and two in the back.  I have two lockers on each side--- If i cut into those lockers and mount  --- will the locker have the strength over time with a rod in the holder?   the lockers seem sturdy.

Has anybody else done this --- or any other suggestions?   See pic  -- thanks in advance

PS -- when i loaded this pic - it looks like i already loaded it previously---im getting old-memory is going.    Help!

If worried about strength you could use some kind of backing.  I found some 1/2 inch or so thick composite (like plexiglass) that wouldnt take up too much space and you could cut 2-3 feet long and the width that would just fit the underside of the gunnel.  That would provide a ton of support and never rot.  I have a couple peices laying around if your from West Fargo area.  I had bought them with this in mind, but the support under my glass gunwales is plenty thick and sturdy and did use them.

YES, I am that foolish!

You're planning on cutting them into the door on top of the rod locker?  If so is the door metal?

I used a hole saw and cut flush mounts into my gunwhale, siliconed the screws and locker base in place and they've stayed in place well.
