 From the Tribune's website:

Taxidermy show this weekend

The North Dakota Taxidermy Association is hosting its 26th annual wildlife art show this weekend in Bismarck.

Joe Roll, past president of the group, said the association has about 80 members statewide and many will have displays of their work at the show.

The show is at the Doublewood Inn and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Roll said the show will feature taxidermy works of all levels from beginners to professionals and many have earned state, national and international awards.

Examples of works will include fish, birds, head mounts, full-body mounts as well as exotic animals.

Admission is $3 for adult and 12 and younger are admitted free.

I've gone to several in the past. Impossible for me to see why a #1 mount beats a #2 mount.

each judge is the scorer of there own division. The judge looks for certain things, that 99% of people wouldnt look for such as inter ear detail, or inner nose detail, and many other finite details. Each mount is given a score out of 100 points. If a score of 90-100 is given a first place ribbon is given 80-89 2nd and so on.
