Boy.....It sure would be nice if the G&F would do more stocking on Devils Lake. The last few years have not had good reproduction. Especially for perch. We're now missing about three year classes of them and you can sure notice it. The bad thing is if you mention it to them they get all defensive. Now their story is that it's too big for stocking to do any good. Yet, they stock Sac all the time and for 30 years the only walleye DL had were stocked. We're now three times bigger, so stock three times as many. It would sure be nice to see them be more pro-active instead of always being re-active. Don't get me wrong, I'm not out to get the G&F. Overall, I think they do an awesome job. But I really feel we're being short changed in this area. Ideally, I believe they should do their test nettings for young of year. If that indicates a poor hatch, then the next year they automatically stock. If that year's netting then shows good numbers, then skip the next year. But a town like Devils Lake that relies on it's lake for it's livelihood can not go 3 or 4 years before they do anything. Last year the majority of the eggs for stocking came from Devils Lake. Yet, Devils Lake didn't get any. Many of the perch lakes around the area get their start from perch from Devils Lake. I guess I just don't feel it's right for them to stock lakes that compete with us for tourists and to then leave us hanging. No business can operate without a steady and reliable supply of product.

I was really surprized at how much they have stocked the Souris river. I guess Towner is a really good place to fish in the Spring. One of my relatives rakes them in at one of the culverts. I believe some good sized fish came out of there this past Spring.

I live so close to the river that I can spit over the dike while standing on my deck. I plan on building about 5 Wood Duck boxes, and putting feed out again this Spring. Those birds are beautiful!

My kids and I fished back there all Spring, and all we caught was one 14 inch walleye, a few perch and tons of bullheads. I don't think our location is prime. : ) We will have to walk a few hundred yards down the dike to the lower coffer dam this next Spring, and try it again.

Huntinand fishin,

Was that really needed? Not going to do anything but tick him off. Every local economy is dependant upon the resources in the immediate area. If an area of land had nothing to offer, then there wouldn't be anyone living there. What you said makes you sound ignorant. It is so plain to see that you do not know about the way local economies work. And it is also plain to see that you are just picking on someone else because you are frustrated about something else. What is the trouble my friend? Stizo : )

As to walleyes and perch in Devils Lake...I don't think its hurting all that bad!

njsimonson,

Why not just post the link? Because I thought I would be nice and make it easier to access. By just posting the link, you have to copy and paste, and access another webpage. Don't you appreciate that? I even had to go through and edit the post to clean it up so that it wasn't one big jumbled mess. I try to help Fishing Buddy by putting things on their site in order to draw in veiwers. They make their money mainly by their advertising dollars. Not through Premium Memberships.

Did I answer your question thuroughly enough for you? It certainly would have been easier for me to just simply post the link, but it is sometimes difficult for some people to navigate if they are not as framiliar with computers as you are . I have friends who have trouble connecting to the internet! Stizo : )

If you post a link, it takes the veiwer away from the FBO website to another web page which does not have FBO advertising on it. By putting the information right in the Hot Topics, this simply keeps the viewer exposed to FBO advertising. This makes FBO happy, and the people advertising on FBO happy. The more hits you have, the more times viewers are exposed to their products and services, thus the more money they all make. Then they can upgrade their web site for us viewers, which is not cheap for Fishing Buddy to do. It takes money to make money, and it takes more money to make alot of money. Stizo : )

Stizo -

Nothing personal man, some like it one way, some another, I just don't like scrolling through three screens of text. I am also used to other websites that have the built in link...I forget that FBO doesn't have direct link coding in it. No harm, no foul.

My wife brings home enough garage sale stuff. She doesn't need your help. I like my hats to have my OWN sweat ring on the inside! Yuck! That is almost worse than used underwear.

This thread is turning into more or less a Shooting the Sh*t forum. I don't see why we can't have one or two of those floating around. If viewers don't like it they don't have to click on it.

I posted the ND Stocking List because I thought it was interesting, and might give us all some insight on which rivers/waters are going to have lots of good fishing this Spring. Now that I know the Souris River has been stocked like it has in the past couple of years, I might try fishing the Souris River in the Upham area this spring while I do some shed hunting. That sounds like an awesome day of fun! Stizo : )

Tough crowd Stizo! ;-)

Yes, direct linking is being talked about. It's so hard because there's lots of nice things a guy can do but then it gets really difficult for the moderating end. This site ain't cheap and to have direct links would make people determined to post a quick link to their site or something.

It's still in the talks though.

Tell ya what, I'll ad it into the links section of the page. That probably needs a little housekeeping anyways. I'm just a rook!

P.S. DL is dang near like a Minnesota lake where reproduction is pretty good (at least in the good lakes). They quite because they need some of the other fish to take their cycle. Predator fish are booming in DL and I think that you can see it in perch success, or lack thereof. Sakakawea on the other hand is a horrible natural reproduction lake and needs all the help it can get. However, with the low water the G & F will probably lay off stockign because it will be a waste with the smelt population going down. Maybe they already have...I have to scroll through the mess stizo put on (ha ha ha...I actually like it this way better stizo ;-)

Stizo, Thank You, I apperciate the timr you put in here. I use to post alot, but it seened like the people never apperciates the time a guy puts in to help the fishing community. Tough call maybe people would rather put their own time into it, thats fine with me. Well all I can say is Thank You again. And yes the fish are biting quite well on "The Bon!"

If it flies it dies!

I really don't know how often I will be on the forum anymore. The fun of sharing information has really been deflated in my opinion, because I have to tollerate certain
rude and disrespectful FBO members who enjoy breeding ill will.

I will be reading, but I will not be posting as much as I used to unless I see some small changes.I have a really hard time with FBO allowing people to post insolent messages toward other members, and then myself and others
not being allowed to rebuke sarcastic and taunting statements. Either they are allowed, or they are not allowed.

FBO needs to decide what they want. If a taunting statement is posted, then naturally, it is going to be censured by other members of FBO who are willing to put in the effort. FBO cannot make everyone happy. Especially when they do not enforce their own terms of use which every member agreed to comply with when they signed up to become a member.

In a previous post, I wrote a statement where I accepted responsibility for some of my posts from years previous, and Tim copied and pasted it into his attempt at mediating this whole thing. He posted as follows:
*************************************************************************************
"Stizo: I see where it is fun to stir the pot once in a while, because I do it myself on occasion"

Tim: I think this statement is a good way to sum up the forum. And, I'm not removing anyones post because perhaps it can be an example of the limit the moderators will take. I've emailed Lycan and gave him an explanation on one of his other posts. He didn't reply back so I assume that he understood where I'm coming from.

************************************************************************

If that statement sums up the forum, then it really doesn
