Photo Description:
I think the elk has to be some sort of record.....largest calf ever?  I mistook it for a yearling cow, turned out to be a bull whose nuts hadn't dropped.  The deer was a good one to take out of the herd.

The elk was sort of odd..you can see my first arrow sticking out the front leg. It went to bucking and jumping about. On about the third jump I sent my dullest practice arrow (force of habit grabbing that one from the quiver) into the ribs. Two more jumps it fell down with feet uphill and couldn't get up...died right there in a matter of seconds. I consider it my best because of weaponry used.

Heart shot the deer at 20 yds. Watched him drop dead at 100.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

Both trophies with a bow, but extra special with a recurve.

Congrats.

Looks like an old muley. My first archery muley was similar in rack size. I didnt have a camera with so I used my treestand safety harness to drag him out (wanted to show him off, and back then I didnt pack animals out). Drug him close to a mile in the Slim Buttes of South Dakota. He had no hair on his shoulder and hip by the time I got him out. I've killed bigger since, but I am proud of him because of the way he was killed and other aspects of the hunt. Congrats on two very good animals.

yeah, the muley appeared to be an older deer...very large body.  But junk a dink 2 point rack.  I was getting itchy to stick something, and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.
