Couple of us guys are looking at a muskie trip this summer.  Any of you guys pursue muskie?  We are looking at lake of the woods in late summer.  Any advice on time of year, location and experience would help.  We plan on taking my boat and looking at a do it yourself trip.

Sioux Narrows through French Portage, drive up to the NW Angle and stay at the resort of your choosing or even camp out on an island. The second week in August is usually pretty good. I would book a room at the Sportsman's on Oak Island. There should be a few guys with Muskie's Inc. on here that can help you out.

Hey buddy get a hold of me.  I will be musky fishing up there the last week of June.  I have a buddy that puts about four weeks a summer up there fishing for muskys that I can put you in touch with.  If you are looking at the canada side at all I have all the information you will need to be legal to include license web address and getting your remote border crossing permit.

Lake of the woods Canada.  check it out, this is where we stayed last year.  be careful up there, it is a lot like Audubon, sunken islands and rock piles.  they have a fish report for muskies caught so you can see what people are catching them on and time of year.

Have you guys caught any muskies?  What type of lures?  Deep or Shallow structure in August?  Did you target any other species that time of year?  Is Canadian side that much better?

We got some smallies, walleye and northerns.  fish shallow for musky and northerns.  a little deeper for walleyes and bass.
check the site i posted and you will know what people are using in that area and at what time of day and year.
