Photo Description:
After a great season with my daughter what could get better. I have taken some great deer with my bow and some so so ones with my gun. I spotted this guy early in the season while doing some glassing with Cassie. There were three big bucks together in a draw with this being the 2nd biggest. I know the area well where this deer was at and knew that I would have to wait for him to make a mistake. One night I was about 3/4 miles away from where I had first seen him and there he was behind about eight does. He was staying back and never came out in the field with the does. I knew then that those does were going to be his mistake. I had my long change coming up and hunted hard for 4 days with no luck checking the field often. On day 5 I was sitting above the field early in the am and he was out but I had no way to get to him. That night was a differant story. I met up with a buddy and we came up with a plan. we got within 250 yards and he started to move away from us not getting a shot we relocated and got within the same distance with him moving away I let it rip not the best shot to be proud of but knew I would only have one chance at this deer. Gotta love Barnes .308 130gr. ttsx. I did recovemy first ttsx bullet. Well it didn't work out like we thought but in the end the biggest NT buck I have harvested is down.

Nice buck man!!!  Excellent story also.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."
