I bit the bullet on a new scope this spring and just got done mounting a 6-24 X on my 700 remington 300Win.  Can't wait to go sight it in.  Just curious what others are running for power on there deer hunting scopes.

Either fixed 6x or 4.5-14x40 on everything I intend to be afoot with.  I've dabbled with "Hubbles".

6-24 is too much.  I think you will love it on the bench but hate it when hunting

If you're stationary you might just love it.  If you're mobile my guess is you'll find the same trouble I did in that even on the lowest power, eye relief (actually the forgiveness of eye relief) and field of view suffer.

Bushnell?  Burris?  Sightron?  Other?

Good p dog scope.  Too much for deer in my opinion except maybe out of a blind on a solid rest for lllooonnngggg shots, but each to their own.   Definitely beat iron sights, anyway!

I ran a 6-24 X 40 sightron on my .243 forever. Loved it for Coyotes, great for deer up on the prairie, fair for deer in the coulees. Currently have a 4-16 X 42 Nikon on that rifle, loving it much more, and a 5-20 X 42 nikon on my 25.06, loving that even more. Used to run sightron on everything, I am a nikon man now. Nothing worse though than pulling up on a deer and seeing only fur.

I have a 6.5 - 20x on my 243. I dont walk/push deer and seldom take a shot under 100 yards. It works great for me. It just depends on your hunting style. I would rather wait or a deer to give me a good standing shoot at 300 yards than shoot one running at 100 yards.

I'm finally getting rid of an old 3x9 Redfiled wide angle... Hate that thing. I'm puchasing a new 3x9 and I like Nikon that I have on my 22-250. I'm looking into a new scope for the Ruger M77 270. Thoughts from you guys on 3x9 scopes, brands, etc. would be good. I looked into Burris and Bushnell and I'm not quite sure that I like their products. Leupold was nice as well. Looking to stay around $150-$200. Just insight would be perfect. Thanks guys.

Sorry man but, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck and double yuck.....

I just basically gave my last Nikon Monarch away a couple weeks ago.  After shooting good optics it spoils you.

I dont own any, but I have heard enough good comments about them they cant be all bad. What 'good optics' would you recommend for $300? Personally I would be tempted to try a Grand Slam in that price range, but thats just me.

Was that the old style monarch or the new 'redesigned' ones they came out with a year or so ago?

Im not sure what changed exactly, but the old ones were clearance priced on several sites very reasonably for a while.

I wish everyone on here could shoot that thing just 5 times  at 600 yards on a calm day.
