hi, im wondering if anyone has tried hooking up a 12 volt battery (thinking about using one of those small ice fishing batteries) to the 12 volt power plug-in on the side of the Moultrie D40.  Also does anyone know if that plug-in brings the voltage down to 9 volts.  Im thinking about trying this, but I dont want to wreck my camera. Any info helpful.

Thanks

Wondering the same thing.   Also if a 12volt solar panel will work on the 9volt camera.

I have a 12 volt power panel for my D-40 and they told me that was ok to use with a D-40 even though it only has 6 d-cell batteries in it.  Can't answer about the battery, but if you find out, it would be cheaper than d-cells in the long run
