They are basically a welded starcraft boat

I owned a monark for a year.  You are correct that it is an offbrand of starcraft.  Very light and reasonably priced.  Depending on your purpose, for family and friends that would be your boat.  Big water, more aggressive way of fishing, I would be against it.  If you drive a comparable model to a similar Alumacraft or Lund you would steer away from the Monark, depending on what you use it for.

The info on Mon Ark boats isant all true,,,,yes its a boat by Star Craft but not all welded hulls,,,I have 17 ft bass boat and its all rivets,,,also very heavy and very strong boat with Modified V hull, I have 50 hp Mercury engine and great Florida boat but now use it up north, Only one draw back is its narrow width as its a 1999, If rough water or wave makers around you better hold on tight and have sea legs.

For a first boat or limited use boat with the right motor it’s not too bad…however if you plan on being out every weekend pounding big water I would not recommend this brand. They are reasonably priced and you’ll probably get 4-6 years out of it before stuff starts falling apart…of course it’s all on how you maintain it…even the most expensive of boats can be poorly maintained.

buddy has got one and every time i fish in it i feel the need to remind him what a great boat it is for the price and purpose.  thing is dry as hell and seems to have held up pretty darn good for the 8 or so years he has had it.  tis a welded hull with full windshield.  i've never had a bad thing to say about it.

I believe since 1999 starcraft bought monark and I'm not positive but I think they are now all welded.  But I haven't looked recently.
