All were caught pulling cranks in the bottom of the channel, however, I did talk to a boat that had good luck pulling 10-15 foot.

Jigging or cranking?
How deep were you working? We have been trying 4-6 ft with shallow cranks and jigging gulps in the deeper holes... just nothing doing. |

Fished out of The Rivery this past weekend. Fishing was excellent with limits taken Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most fish were 18-20 inches. Did catch six fish that were 22-24 inches. The 23's went 5 lbs or better. The 22's were all over 4, most had shad in them Lots of boats were out, which was good to seen so many people taking advantage of the excellent fishing. Talked to numerous boats who had fair to good luck. The bite should get better and better, don't put the boat away!

Fished from Olhauser's Boat Dock to Beaver Bay mouth last night for 3 hours, no luck. Pulled various cranks & even gave spinners a little try. When will the bite pick up? Last year, at this time, fishing was superb.

Fished from The Rivery landing to the Casino landing this past weekend for a few hours each day. Friday evening I picked up 4 nice walleye in a couple of hours. Saturday morning we were blasing away at roosters and were done by 11 a.m., so there I was, back on the water in the wind and rain. I lasted about an hour with one pike. Sunday after huning, same routine, same results - one nice walleye and one pike. All fish were caught pulling cranks. Water temp has dropped 11 degrees from the previous week. With the stable weather this week, walleye should be on the move.

Put in at the rifle range. Tried south and north. Both fish we caught were caught within sight of the boat dock. One 17 inch sauger and a 22 inch walleye. Both fish looked real healthy. Forgot to mention that I was fishing on monday the 6th. Good luck.

Anyone think that blowing up the memorial bridge and sending tons of particulate and sediment downstream is going to affect the "fall run"?? eeek!

Missouri River System - Saturday, October 4, 2008 | |
The fall bite is right on schedule. It usually starts down south where it is now(state line to fort rice area) and works its way north. A couple more weeks and the rifle range area should be HOT HOT HOT.

I'm fairly new to the area, but I hear so much about the great fall bite that occurs around Bismarck. Is it late this year or is this about normal? Or are the people who are catching fish just not reporting it?
