Minnow Trapping

I would like to trap some in the sheyenne river or somewhere near Fargo. Is there any good spots? and what do i look for when trapping rivers?

stick to smaller water bodies like sloughs and creeks.  rivers are to big and don't have the concentrations of baitfish you're looking for.  you want to trap in waters where minnows are a little higher up in the food chain.

Just about any slough thats at least a few years old will have fathead minnows in it, you just have to take some time to find that slough with the right balance of water quality and food that will produce good numbers of large minnows.

Toss a trap in different sloughs & creeks overnight with some bread and dry dog food in them and see what you get.

No need to wonder about anything else.  Multi nailed it, at least for fatheads.  Good Luck!!

Lets get him to crawl before he runs.  He's gotta find a slough with minnows first, then he can home in on the best spot on that slough.

When I throw a rock in my ponds, the minnows are so thick they splash right into my bucket, I dont even need a trap!

I am now officially afraid of minnows,  I don't want any spooning with me as I sleep.  worms are still OK?

If you slough fish - for minnows,  perch, or any other fish... watch out for the guides... they have unlimited authority on all ND sloughs and can kick you off at will.
