Minnesota crappie lakes

I am looking for some good crappie lakes on the Minnesota side. I used to fish crappies constantly on the lakes around the Detroit Lakes area when I was younger. Problem is that I have not crappie fished for so long I dont know where to go. Franklin, Lizzy, Lida are some of the lakes that sound familiar. Just looking for a small lake to set up my portable. Anybody help? ROOSTER

look at the dnr surveys of gill nets and go from there. pick a lake and print out a map and go find em. dnr website has just about every lake map so good luck. the 3 you mentioned are good ones just a matter of finding them.

cant drink all day unless you start in the morning.

Red Lake does still have them but they are wicked hard to catch...you might catch one a night if your lucky.

Crappie fishing like Upper Red Lake provided 6 - 8 years ago will probably never be seen again. Unbelievable fishing for a few years, lots of fish and they were all big fish, which in itself is a sign of an unhealthy fishery that won't be sustained, but it was fun when it lasted!

Lida can produce some nice fish.  It has an 11 inch minimum for crappies.  Detroit Lakes has good numbers, but the quality of fish isn't great.  Try Deadshot Bay on DL at night for crappies in 18-22 ft.
