The dates of the banquets are Sept 9th for Stanley, ND and Sept 10th for Williston, ND. Besides work, there are not a lot of opportunities for entertainment in northwestern North Dakota and we would like to mix it up a bit with a benefit for the Mule Deer Foundation that would include a dinner, games/raffles, silent auction, live auction and a fun family friendly environment.

MDF is dedicated to the following goals: •To restore, improve and protect mule deer habitat (including land and easement acquisitions) resulting in self-sustaining, healthy, free ranging and huntable deer populations •To encourage and support responsible wildlife management with government agencies, private organizations and landowners; •To promote public education and scientific research related to mule deer and wildlife management; •To support and encourage responsible and ethical behavior and awareness of issues among those whose actions affect mule deer; •Acknowledge regulated hunting as a viable component of mule and black-tailed deer conservation.

MDF has been active in North Dakota for the past ten years and is in a growth mode. In the past year we have added chapters in Minot, Fargo, Williston and Dickinson and we are hoping to expand other locations in North Dakota as well as in Eastern Montana. In the last two years, North Dakota chapters have raised over $170,000 for mule deer. During this same time period we have seen a tremendous growth in energy exploration and development in Western North Dakota, which is prime mule deer habitat. We at MDF want to make it clear they we are not opposed to energy exploration and development. What we do support is responsible energy development and to assist in the opportunity to enhance and/or reclaim habitat to ensure the conservation of mule deer for future generations.

Support can come in a couple of different ways. First, become a member! We have general membership and lifetime memberships available for employees and our most popular is for your company to become a Sponsor Member in which you are recognized at our banquet, receive a plaque, sponsor hat and pin as well as a 1 in 5 chance at a sponsor member rifle. Secondly, make a donation(s) to our banquet by underwriting an item or a cash donation, we have items that cost $50 on up to $2,000 (.50 Cal long range rifle, this is our Top Gun hat raffle at both banquets), we have several guns and prints that could be underwritten. Specifically we are looking for support to cover the costs of our dinners, in Stanley we are estimating $2000 and in Williston we are estimating $4,000 to $4,500. Another option is a cash donation in our Conservation Partnership program. The Conservation Partnership program begins with $1,500 and100% of those funds stay in North Dakota and will be applied to an MDF project.

With regards to funds raised, a Project Review Committee has been established to solicit habitat projects and to prioritize mule deer projects. This PRC is made up of representatives from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, U.S. Forest Service and MDF representatives.

$25 per ticket. Social, Games and Raffles start at 5pm with dinner at 7pm.  Call Marshall for tickets!

Thanks to all of you who participated and supported the Stanley and Williston MDF banquets.   It was a great start in NW ND for MDF!  A stagering 91% of the monies raised will go directly back into mule deer habitat, conservation, education and our future hunters!

If anyone would like more info on becoming a supporting member or even on a committee to help with the one or two events held each year please visit the website or call Marshall Johnson.

We look forward to seeing you next year.

Thank you!
