This little dam has been a sleeper for a few years now. I have talked with several friends who have fished it for trout, walleyes, and perch and done well for both size and numbers. But it still remains off the radar.  Got an early day off work so I gave it a shot. Fished 21 to 24 fow and 3 of us brought back 7 nice perch about 9".  Sent at least that many back and one cigar walleye too in about 2 hrs of fishing. Did not drive on the ice as there is alot of slush and some deeper drifts, but its a small dam and you could walk from end to end in 15 min.

Hey 4Yaks,i drive by McGregor Dam 5to6 times a day.Have seen a few house's on the west side.Had a few roughneck buddies that caught some nice trout there durning the summer,but that
was a couple years ago.Anyway,durning the weekend there is always a few people out there.Nice little lake and camp ground!!!

Thanks for the report.  I did pretty well on perch there last summer.  Also caught a ton of cigar walleyes. 
 

 

Without a doubt, coming out into nature is one of the neatest things there is to do, but you also have to be careful. That’s why I always try to pack the heat — try to pack a gun. Just a little bit — pack some heat. Now this isn’t too — this isn’t much of a big boy, I don’t want to kill the animal, but I do want to warn it, and say “hey, I think you’re pretty neat, but I respect your distance.” There’s bears out here, there’s mountain cougars, and biting goats.
