Marion Lake (Boom Lake) - Friday, April 24, 2009
I know when the netted it the first time it was full of nice fish. Then they had a bad winter, and now with this winter it doesnt look good. I am sure some survived, and there might be some northerns that made it. I am thinking it will take a while to get where it once was, if ever again. When I started fishing it it was 15ft in the deepest spots. Last year I got to 11. So don't doubt the winterkill issues.

I went out there the other day and looked and found some dead along shore they were on the south side along the gravel road. A lot of dead bullheads, crappies, perch, and a fair amount of walleye. But I don't know, maybe the fish that died were trapped on the south side of the old road bed last fall and they didn't make it back to the north side were it is deeper. Maybe the one's on the north side of the road bed did a little better but it still took a hit. Hopefully they will restock it again now that that water is high.

That is not good news at all. I think a couple of years ago there were lots of walleyes washed up on shore, but there were still some in there. That is to bad. let me know if you find out more. Thanks for the info.

Marion Lake (Boom Lake) - Thursday, April 23, 2009
G&F told us at the VC meeting that the lake was expected to have suffered an extensive winter kill from tests run by the Dept. Full extent of the kill will not be known until ice off.
