Have you guys seen the map of the proposed Lakota Nation? A little bigger than I had invisioned. It is on Wickapedia. Here is the link:
And how does the Lakota Nation figure they will be acquiring this land? Does this land seriously need to be fought over again? It doesn't take a brain surgeon or rocket scientist to figure out what nation would quickly reclaim all of the yellow, red, and orange territory and turn it back into places called "Southeastern Montana", "Southwestern North Dakota", and such. Honestly, this Russel Means guy needs a reality check.
There's always going to be idiots like Russell Means around. Hateful, misguided people like him thrive on the publicity we give them by even talking about their ludicrous ideas. I hope this idiot and his group of clowns really did denounce their citizenship. And, I hope because of it our goverment has the balls to kick their A$$ES out. I still think it's time that we as AMERICANS when filling out surveys, applications, census forms, and what not start checking OTHER on the race question and write in "HUMAN"; and check OTHER on the ethnicity question and write in "PROUD AMERICAN". Until we can put this crap aside, our country will continue to divide even further than it is. The current trends are not working in our favor.
Are you trolling 44?
The map in question has a key with it, obviously the map is designed to show the original size of the Lakota Territory...and subsequent sizes per differing taking of lands from the Lakota.
No place on the map does it state the map is the proposed outline for the new nation.
Yeah, I get a kick out of our news media making such a big deal every time osama bin laden makes another tape. Ignore him for a year or two and he would get desperate for attention again and would start doing something stupid and sooner or later he would trip up and we'd catch him.
Same with Russell Means. Just ignore them and they will go away. But then the media has to sell the news so they'll continue to bring attention to those who shouldn't get it.
I'm not trolling. On the page in Wikipedia that links to it, it says that map is "possible location of the Lakota Nation is cession from the United States is successful." Here is the link - you'll have to scroll down:
THAT IS BULL! I'm ok with them and the whole thing but that's my home their taking. Plus the Capitol. Also all the Badlands.
You guys woudlnt know what to do if this went through. No one besides the indians would be able to hunt the badlands.
Wow. My apologies 44.
I read it, and what I find interesting is the fact they denounced all treaties - yet they choose a treaty outlined area as their homeland. Is that not ironic?
Anyways I followed links to the seccessionist website.
From what I gather there is nothing more than a small group who think they can speak for all Lakota.
There are no tribal board concurrences, nothing.
Frankly I am tired of this group, I think if they put as much effot into actually helping the Lakota people (as they do in subversive crap) then things would be better.
That said I am turning my back to the whole issue, they want publicity and sensationalism, division and attention.
I really don't know much about this issue. I read one brief article on it, and now see this thread on here. My first reaction is to support their willingness to secede and to be their own nation.
And at the risk of offending someone (it is not my intention to do so), I can't help but wonder... Are they prepared and ready to cut themselves off from all U.S. government funding/welfare/subsidies? I applaude them if they are.
The problematic aspect of this are those who are not Native American and have homes in the proposed seceded nation.
I suppose none of this will go anywhere though.
Who would want so much of Nebraska?
Just kidding Gregg!

I have been reading the two threads on this subject and all I can say is I hope that some of you don't actually think something like this would or could ever happen? Its good for a chuckle and thats it. I certainly wouldn't get worried about them taking away your city or your land.
Next things he's gonna wanna do is take away our birthday.
On a related note I just bought a DPMS LR308 guess ill need more ammo but im betting they wont take that chunk of land have they forgoten what happened the last time they fought this war
This whole topic has been wrung out on another thread. The bottom line: Means is an idiot and DOES NOT represent the Native people at all!
Where are the fish biting?
Who would want so much of Nebraska?
Just that damn Ted Turner fella... Think he'd let me hunt his land if I called him?
Gregg' If you get his #, let me know, because I passed on a nice Mullie buck 2 years ago, just chewing his cud nice and safe about 50 yards off of the road on some of Ted's land. That 6 strand high tension fence not only keeps the Bufalo in, it keeps us out.
If you drink --- Don't drive -- Don't even Putt
Your birthday tag line is eating any post, right after yours!!!
Well said Bobkat.
This thing is beat into the ground.
And last I heard they were biting good right off Arrowhead Point (new town marina).
Fixed the tagline.
And just actually looked at this map of Lakota Nation. I'm thinking Ted and Lakota are secretely working together to take the middle of the United States over. Next it will be the entire USA and then.......the world!!!!!
hah, hah, hah, real nice map-- that would happen when hell freezes over

A good place to find where the fish are biting is today's Outdoors section of the Bismarck Tribune.
Or when the Vikings win the superbowl...oh wait...they are suppose to do that this year.
And man, I bet that Moe's Point (Arrowhead, etc, etc) has the most names of any fishing destination in the lake. I swear there must be ten different names for it.
Good one Tim!HA!HA!AH!AH!HA!AHHA!
We call it corn. The Indians called it maize.
Nuke the Whales
I just call it played out.
My hope is the Lakota people will stand up to Means and say no.
The facts are really simple, the UN, of which the US is a member nation...agreed to a multitude of rights for all indigenous peoples. Under that resolution the Lakota have more power than anyone here wants to believe.
And the US, by it's own sword is forcing iraq to recognize the Kurds and their right to their own areas, making other Iraqi's move, etc.
All the while the UN offers billions of dollars of aid to these indigenous groups - which I am sure Means knows equals tons of spending money.
Can this happen. Yep. Will the UN enforce it, yep. Will the UN finance the new country - Yep.
Is it good for America...NO.
Does Means represent all lakota...NO
Has any Sioux tribe come forward to back him...NO
Topic beat to death.
That's a good flogging. In fact, I feel like I've just been untied from the pole. Also, in fact, I think I'll go on a quest for some maize juice.
Don' laugh, I mistakenly wondered into a health freaks store in FL last year. They actually had vegie juices. Corn, potatoe...yes I said potatoe...
In a word... Ewwwww.

Not sure how funny any of this is. But this is the last I have to say about it.
I have better things to do than worry about ex Free Willy stars and their bids for attention.
